New Patch Crashes with Existing Leagues

Created a new league - consistent crash - second game of first season - game just 'goes' away. No error message or anything else...

Is there a way to run in debug mode to find out why the crash takes place?

I have now recreated this crash seven times - always seems to be the 7th batter (regardless of team or score or inning) of second game in manage mode. After the 3rd crash I saved game after 1st game finished.

Is this w/ v2006? You probably need to give us some details about your system as that may help. Any more details about the leagues you are creating?

1960 League

Lehman Database

No Inaugral Draft (My Cubs were pretty brutal that year!)

First game - manage mode - finishes fine every time.

Second game - again - first day of 1960 season - crashes to nothing
(game just goes away) in the first or second inning of this game
EVERY TIME.

No pattern to which team is batting, or # of outs or last play before it
crashes - you just watch the game in Webcast mode and hit 'continue'
and 'desktop'

Did not have this problem until installing second patch - I recreated the
league after applying second patch....

Ok, I just imported 1960 and got to game #2. I played out as far as you said you'd made it before and I had no issues.

Thanks! I will recreate my league again and give it another try

But is there a way to run in 'debug mode' to 'capture the crash'??

There is no "debug mode" per se, but if you start to run into a crash, zip up the .dat files from that saved game. That can help us in troubleshooting.

It helps if we can get to a state where we can just say, "Load up this saved game, and play a game, and watch what happens in the 7th inning!"

Thanks,

Steve

Angry New Patch Crashes with Existing Leagues

I just installed the new patch after saving my previous game, I then opened my previous league and tried to sim one day, 12/28/08 and it gets 90% done and crashes with the message ootp2006 encountered problems and must close. I have not had any previous problems.

Same here except I was able to sim about a week into free agency but when I went to the team transactions screen to move signed players from DFA it crashes. Every time now. I am unable to continue my league now.

After the new patch, everytime i play out a game, it will crash at the end of each game when i hit the continue button.

i can sim each game, it only crashes when i play out a game.

TheDROCK,

A few questions

1. Is it doing this in a league created in an earlier patch release?
2. Ditto in a newly created league?

Regardless, I imagine my first suggestion will be to uninstall and reinstall the game from scratch...

Please let us know!

Can you guys please confirm that when you start the game, the version # in the lower left says 1.0.2.12258?

The next step, I would suggest, is uninstalling the game and reinstalling a fresh copy, and we'll see how that goes...

Thanks,

Steve

If it still crashes then we'd like your .dat files for your game

This could be a knock on from the change in compiler for this version. As long as you can get us your save we'll have this fixed in the final patch

I can confirm that it is 1.0.2.12258. How should I go about sending the .dat file?

If your existing league is crashing, please zip up just your .dat files, and FTP them to the following location:

IP Address: 217.158.3.6
Username: ftp-public
Password: public
folder ootp/game-save

Then, please post back here letting me know the name of your zipped file. Don't despair, we'll do our best to turn around something for this quickly. It's certainly not our intent for your existing leagues to crash.

Thanks very much!

New Patch Crashes with Existing Leagues

If you have installed the latest patch, and are getting crashes in an existing league, please post in this thread.

We'd like to know:

1. Under what specific circumstance does the game crash?
2. If you create a brand new game, does it do the same thing?

Please zip up just the .dat files from your game, and FTP them to the following location:

IP Address: 217.158.3.6
Username: ftp-public
Password: public
folder ootp/game-save

You can FTP the file here using your handy web browser. Just navigate to ftp://217.158.3.6, and press Enter. Then enter the user name and password specified, and go into the ootp/game-save folder. Copy and paste your zipped league (just the .dat files), then post back with your zip name!

Then post here to let us know the name of your zip file.

I merged a number of related threads, and these are being handled under TT # 2351.

Thanks,

Steve

Got a crash in existing league after patch too

Just installed patch 12258 and continued with my existing league. When I click continue (to next day) I get a bunch of messages on contract negotiations for players that are not even on my team! I also get a message without any header

I then checked my roster and suddenly I have 4 or 5 new players on my roster (which I supposedly signed according to the messages)

When I then want to manage the next game of my team and swich to the SION webcast the game crashes (tried it 3 times now, always with the same result) with the following error message:
The instruction at "0x00583f80" referenced memory at "0x00000015". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program. Click on CANCEL to debug the program

The game then crashes to the desktop.
With the 1st WIP patch everything worked fine. When I start another saved league I have no problems. What's wrong? Is my first universe lost (I invested a lot of time in that one and was doing fine ...)
