Crash during rookie import

Okay, so I've scoured the boards for over an hour and have not found an answer, so I'm posting here. My online 12-team league using historical players crashes during the Rookie import process, just as it starts to calculate ratings. I have the import set to the proper directory in the league setup, and it is linked to the Arod database.

If there are no routine fixes, I can zip up the league and you can have a look. Appreciate your time and patience.

Sorry about the delay. I've had some computer problems that prevented me from getting to this. All fixed, so now we'll try to get you fixed up.

First, I'm going to need two things: the commissioner password (you can PM that to me to keep it a secret if you wish) and a link to the historical DB you're using.

I've posted this problem before, but I'm still getting the same crash.

The game crashes during the import of new rookies. I've tried 3 different databases (Lahman, Ankit, Arod23Garlon), and have changed the date of the rookie draft, and I always get the same error message.

The game successfully finishes "Loading Database" and "Importing Players", but crashes at 0% of "Calculating Player Ratings". I am hoping this is a known problem that someone can quickly address. I'm running a 12-team alternate history league and trying to import 1964 rookies.

I have the latest patch. We imported an existing league from 6.5 on Opening Day 1963, and we are to Oct. 31, 1963. I set the rookie draft for Dec. 1, so the game is importing rookies on Nov. 1. I have the Arod23Garlon database in C:\Stats and linked as such on the "Database Path" of in the league setup. [I have tried different import dates and different databases and get the same crash every time.]

When I click on Play Next Day, the game proceeds to import rookies but then crashes when it gets to "Calculating Rookie Ratings". The message that pops up says:

"ootp2006.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I am running the game on a Dell Inspiron 1.7 GHz, 512 MB RAM, using Windows XP.

Let me know how else I can help out.

Bump because if this league folds due to this not "isolated" issue, saw at least 2 other 'similar" threads, then OOTP has helped trash a lg starting their 14th yr of lg play,.....and a great commish and a bunch of great owners...heres hopin guys.....

I just simply wasn't able to get to the root of the problem. My guess is that it has something to do with an error in the import between 6.5 and 2006.

No, not dead. I bumped the thread rather than replying to his last PM in the hopes that someone with more importing and historical experience than I wants to take a look at the file.

My OOTP expertise is in different areas. Just because I couldn't find the problem doesn't mean that it can't be found.

The league is not toast. There are several workarounds we can do. The one we will probably do is generate a batch of fictional rookies and then edit their names and ratings to match the historical draft pool.

Not meant to be in any way derogatory about the league or the commish, it's just a shame (OOTPBM2006) and the "frustration" I ahve with it come out as venting vs the lg/commish

In all respect, Tim is one of the best commissioners around (helps he has "mostly" great GM's too)
