Is 1024 X 768 resolution mandatory?

Is it necessary to set my screen resolution to 1024x768 to run OOTP 2006? I have my screen set to 800x600 and prefer not to change it (messes up the desktop). Is there any way to run OOTP2006 in 800x600?

Per the minimum system requirements, 1024X768 is the lowest you can go. I do not believe the game will run if you attempt to go to 800X600. You can give it a try though and see if it does work.

Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of that. I can use that resolution, but I prefer not to. I did try running in 800x600, and the game won't load. I thought there might be a setting I could adjust, but I guess not.

This freeware tool may come in handy for you:

http://www.12noon.com/reschange.htm

And then change the OOTP shortcut to this:

reschange.exe -width=1024 -height=768 "C:\program files\sports interactive\OOTP Baseball 2006\ootp2006.exe"

...in theory, that will force your computer to change to 1024x768 while OOTP is running, and then switch back when it's done. I haven't tested it, so try that at your own risk.
