My experience with OOTP so far

1. I downloaded the game and was not able to get it to start due to an error. I resolved this problem with the "facegen" way. In other words, I removed facegen from being read when the game started. Problem solved.

2. I spent an hour preparing my universe. My plan was to sim the first 10 years, and then take over a team. After simming thru the middle of the first season, the game crashed and the message: ERROR: National League has no starting pitchers, subs, etc.. I was not able to get away from the error box because every time I hit "OK" the box kept reappearing. This using a fictional roster with a 24 team, 2 league setup.

3. I thought I updated my driver for the video card to get facegen to work. When I downloaded the update, more errors came up related to the download of the driver. Now, every time I turn on my computer, an error message comes up relating to that installation. I have no idea what the problem is.

4. Needless to say I have not even turned the game back on because of my frustration, and unsatisfaction. I am lucky the computer is even working.

5. I do not know my system specs. I dont even know where to look to find out what they are. All I know is I am running XP on a Dell computer.

Pardon my ignorance, but I am frustrated. Thanks.

OK, let's try to get you back in business. The first thing to do is right click on My Computer, then click properties, click the hardware tab, press the device manager button, clcik the little plus sign next to "display adapters" and tell us what it says under there. That is your video card.

We need to get you the correct driver downloaded. Then we'll uninstall the current one from the control panel, restart, install the new driver and that should solve the error problem and maybe facegen problems too.

(re: #2 - I ran into this issue and fixed it by turning on ghost players, I also reimported schedules as that was causing me probs too)

Found this on the SIS site:

Quote:
We only manufacture chipsets for Mainboards/VGA cards, but do not assemble boards or cards for retail use. Retail board and card manufacturers often customize SiS chipsets' hardware and software to suit their particular system or configuration, so drivers on this site may not work for your particular system.
Your manufacturer is the best source of information for product information and support. We suggest you obtain technical assistance from your board or card manufacturer first before installing SiS drivers.
So, Dell should have this info for you here: http://support.dell.com/support/inde...n&s=dhs&~ck=mn (click on drivers & downloads and follow instructions)

I am going to sleep but someone else will hopefully jump in and help or I will try to find this thread tomorrow.

Did you find your driver? If so, download it and save the .exe to your desktop.

Go to add/remove program in control panel (start -> settings -> ctrl panel) and find the SIS driver or other video driver that you had installed and remove it. After your remove the driver your screen will probably look a bit weird and you should be prompted to restart. Do that and then when your PC restarts double-click the exe for the new driver on your desktop and let it do its things. You might be prompted to restart again after that - do so if necessary.

Then we can get to work on figuring out your OOTP problems...
