Historic league totals: checkbox misbehaving

I have left the box UNCHECKED that says "automatically adjust league totals modifiers after each season for historic accuracy." I want the values I have manually entered to remain there.

However, the historic league totals are imported here each season anyway, and I have to go in and manually enter the values I want, year after year.

If you don' hae the box checked, I think the game assumes you are playing the 1-yr recalc mode in which case importing the historical league totals fdrom season to season will work better than the modifiers. With 3-yr or 5-yr recalc mode the modifiers system works great.

Why exactly do you want to put your own totals in anyway? The modifier system is a scientific approach to evaluating the performance of the league versus the historical league totals. It i the most correct calculation possible for getting the league to turn out as historically accurate as possible.

Because I am using your random debut database.

I see. What I would do if I were you is make a copy of the era_stats.txt file found in the My Documents/SportsInteractive/OOTP Baseball 2007/data/database folder. Rename the original file to something else but make sure you don't lose it. Open the copy you made with Excel. Thre are columns for AB, H, 2B, 3B, HR, BB, HBP, and K. These are the DIPS categories that the league totals modifiers can control. Set the AB total to 100000 and then type in the ratios of everything ele you want your leaue to perform to. For example, if you want the league to hit .275 each season just set AB to 100000 and Hits to 27500. Do this for all categories, put the file back in the folder and then enable the league totals modifiers. This ay th modifiers will make thei calculations on these new expected totals (ratios) that you have entered.

The same checkbox existed in OOTP2006, and it worked fine. It doesn't really control the modifiers, but the league totals themselves. Unchecked, everything stays the same. Checked, the real world totals from that year replace the existing values (probably on Jan. 1, but I'm not sure). Or at least, that's the way it used to work in the last version. I left it unchecked, and the values I'd entered remained unchanged.

I can deal with it by manually entering the values I want at the beginning of each year. I have selected the totals from 1972, since I am using a 24 team league, and it is a happy medium era-wise. It's working out quite well, too, giving me the type of league totals that please me.

Mostly I'm posting this here because it seems like the checkbox is broken. It does the same thing, whether it is checked or not.

BTW: Garlon, I love the random debut DB, and understand there's a new one in progress.

Does the checkbox work properly in other leagues? Does this need a TT? I'm not familiar enough with historical leagues to know.
