Club Financials in OOTP 2007: My whole league is broke

Every single team in my fictional league - from big-shot New York to small-potatoes Des Moines - is running a multi-million dollar deficit. My owner won't allow me any money for free agent signings, and I can't propose a trade to any team in the league because every conceivable trade results in one team or another being unable to afford the player being offered. Trades are happening occasionally, but they're always deals involving the Nipponese pro league.

Is this normal? I tried saving the game and generating new fictional financials from the game setup menu, but that just resulted in even bigger deficits. Is my league doomed to never sign a major league free agent or execute an intra-league trade?

There is nothing wrong with small potatoes. Cut them up, spice them up and throw them in the oven; makes a really good sidedish.

Please post some numbers. Perhaps a screenshot of the league financial setup and one or two front office screens. It's not normal to have all teams in huge deficits.

Gentlemen, after a little more fiddling, I'm embarrassed to admit that this was a self-generated problem.

My league is a smaller one, and has a schedule of only 120 games. Even though I was running a shorter schedule, it didn't occur to me to decrease the league's financial modifier, and so I ended up doling out 162-game salaries with only 120 games worth of income.

Oops.
