OOTP 8 should prompt for data folder
I just dowloaded OOTP8 and can't install since my "My Documents" folder is a network share, and I'm offline. The installer fails since it can't access this location. Even if I was online and could install, I'd have to manually change this location to use the game. Why not ask me where I want to store my data?

Well, the game does allow you to change your data folder after you have already installed it.
I've never heard of a non-local My Documents folder, at least on a system for personal use. I suppose that the option doesn't exist because very few people need it, to tell the truth. Can you get connected to your network to install it? If not, can you change your settings to unshare your My Documents folder long enough to install? |

I'm installing on my work laptop (running Vista) where our My Documents folder is redirected to a server.
I originally posted this as a suggestion, thinking it would be more convenient to change it at install rather than afterwards, but even connected to the network the install fails. The error is that it can't create the facegen\background folder. This worked fine with OOTP 2007, and it's still installed on the machine. Any other suggestions? |

Can you manually create the folder yourself before installation?

I tried creating the folder myself, but the error is the same.
Setup could not create the following folder: "...\My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 8\data\facegen\background" [Retry|Cancel] |

Well... my system policy wouldn't let me change my My Documents folder location to a local folder...so, I used a free tool called Tweak VI and was able to change it. I've installed OOTP 8 now...hopefully I don't get in trouble at work
![]() Still, I think it would be nice to be able set this location at install. |
