Waiver trades not working properly

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=6 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2 style="BORDER-RIGHT: 1px inset; BORDER-TOP: 1px inset; BORDER-LEFT: 1px inset; BORDER-BOTTOM: 1px inset">Originally Posted by damonrusst
So not sure if this is a bug or if it's just how a waiver trade is supposed to work. Any advice would be appreciated.

I just tried to trade Dib Williams for a quality MR. It was after the trade deadline so I had to wait for waivers to clear. The guy I was trading for got claimed off waivers so the trade wasn't processed.

But then I checked the transaction log and saw that he was listed as being a free agent. Is this the way it is supposed to work? I thought if he got claimed, he'd end up on the team that claimed him.

Can anyone help me out on this?

No, that's not how it's supposed to work. The game doesn't actually do it right, either, but that's another rant.

In OOTP, if the guy gets claimed by anyone, the trade is canceled. End of story. He doesn't go anywhere.

Just for the record, the player that was claimed should show up on the roster of the team that claimed him, not on the free agent list, right? I'm not sure how this works IRL but am assuming the game should mirror that.

Is this a bug? Any advice would be appreciated. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

I've just tried to replicate this and all the waivered players if any is claimed return to their original teams. Was it your player that went to Free Agency or the AIs? It could have been that the computer wanted rid of that player and thought if I can't trade him away I'd better release him.
