Boxers who should be added to the database.
I'm compiling a list of boxers who could be added to the database. The list will be prioritized. Tyrone Trice is an example of a glaring omission. Fighters similar to Tyrone Trice will be added ASAP. Most of the others will be added at a later date.

Is this mainly for older/retired boxers or new? There are a ton of upcoming Top 10ish ranked fighters that aren't in the database. Example--MW Khoren Gevor, JMW Lukas Koneckny, WW Jesus Karaas.
Fantastic job so far. |

Hey Iced Tea
Just wondering if Terrance Alli and Tyrone Crawley are going to be done. I'm at work and can't check my database but If I remember right I was surprised they weren't there. Edit: I just checked your fighter link page and they are there I'll have to check my database again. In my Uni they should have imported as there career start dates are in the time frame I began with but really don't remember seeing them. Last edited by Ric915; 12-16-2008 at 05:35 PM. |

Ice Tea,
While you're on this, what about Raymundo "Battling" Torres, the LW/JWW from the late 50s-early 60s? The game rates his son, but he's missing! The guy was a terror for a brief period in those weight classes and fought Carlos Ortiz for the lightweight belt. Also fought for the JWW title. |

That thought must have been floating around in the spirit world because I was just thinking about Terrance Alli last week. He was at least a solid 8 during his prime years. And the Butterfly, his defense was spectacular until his first stoppage loss. He was poetry in motion in the ring. He was like Sweat Pea for awhile - but he couldn't take a lot of punishment. I'd give him a TKO rating of 3. Hitting him was like trying to swat a fly. Once he got hit really good though... turn out the lights.

If we are going to go with guys from the eighties who peaked and then quickly fell from the rankings then how about Charlie "White Lightning" Brown.

British/Commonwealth from Mid/late 60's
Would there be much interest in adding in some British/Commonwealth fighters from this time period, lesser knowns?
I've got almost complete sets of the Boxing News for 1966 thru 1969 (looking for a 1965 set) which besides being a ton load of fun and interesting reading, they can give a lot of great insite into the careers of many lesser known fighters. Jim McIlvaney, a HW from that time is someone I did a rating for awhile back and then sometime later on the TB forum I received a contact from his son I believe it was. Well with these copies of the Boxing News, I see they cover almost his entire career and thought about reading through what articles I can find on him to see if they would help me with bettering his rating that I did. There's a lot of other interesting HW/LHW and lesser weight fighters I myself would love to look at doing this way. This doesn't mean churning out a large number of fighers in any short time, maybe even 1 a week depending on how much researching is needed, but maybe we could come up with some decent rated fighters in the 3 and under rating range. I'm going to work on McIlvaney and see what I can come up with for him. Any thoughts or interest in doing any more of thes Brits who I could dig on some history on from these old publications? Rocco, I would like to see something like that also, and perhaps one of the gatekeepers of the Light Heavyweight division in the 1970's Gary Summerhays.
He was a very tough guy who gave many of the good young fighters on their way up a tough nights work, and was never knocked off his feet based on everything I have read. If he had been more of a puncher he might have fared better in the division.

Rocco, I second the Mad Bomber on that! I loved what you did in the past with mid-to late-60s heavyweights a few years back. I hope you do the same here.

I would love to see more current fighters, but I usually play my universe with active fighters. I think it is a fantastic database and the constant updating is something that I have always wanted out of TBCB. Its great when you see an undefeated fighter who loses bad in his first test and the next day Ice has him re-rated...great stuff Mark, you have done a wonderful job with the database..just wonderful. I was glad to see you put Ali back as a 15 though

In my uni, undefeated Paul Williams lost a 15UD to Luis Collazo & now Paul wants a rematch with Luis with his new rating! Paul wasn't toned for the fight & I think he also may have fought RH too so no wonder he lost! Guys I'd like to see include: Alfredo Angulo @ JMW Marcos Rene Maidana @ JWW Juan Manuel Lopez @ JFW Roman Gonzalez @ Straw Also K-9 Bundridge after his surprising KO of a prospect in Europe last weekend. In case you can't tell, I like big punchers. Last edited by hamed2; 12-17-2008 at 12:48 PM. |
