exactly where does the game get the team info for expansion?

I am lost at where the game is finding the teams. I thought it was the team csv file and the era ballparks for the ballpark info. Well at first i had all the teams i had setup for 1871.
But the Boston Red Stockings would show up as a expansion team in 1872 when they were not an expansion team. They were in the same league with the same abbreviations as 1871.
Also the game now imports 1871 with teams i did not assign to that year. I checked other years and its doing the same thing. Could a file have been corrupted? I would think it wouldnt load the database then.
Can you not move teams to another league and have an odd number of expansion teams? I tried with 5 expanion teams and the whole league showed up as expansion teams in the expansion draft.

The teams.csv file is not used pre-1901.

I believe the historical odb file is used prior to then and it is not editable as far as my lack of knowledge goes. Some players have reported trying to edit the odb file with a total lack of luck. I do not know if anyone has ever succeeded. I only know about the luck-lackers.

PLUS

You cannot have an odd number of teams anyhoot. Not allowed by OOTP.

Yeah you can, you just have to manually edit the league structures.

Thats weird cause i had Fort Wayne Kekiongas and cleveland in the AL.
Then i edited the teams csv file to put cleveland in the NL instead.
This showed up at first but now it has the reds which i did not select as a team for 1871. Could i have selected the historical database instead of the
original database. I wouldnt mind using either database but i would like to have the teams i want in the league. Yeah i could just edit them but it doesnt help with automatic expansion.
Oh and i think you misunderstood me on the odd number of teams.
I had an even number of teams for the league as total but its in expansion was were i was wondering if you can add an odd number of teams.
Like if 3 teams from the NL folded and 3 teams from the AL moved to the NL while adding 3 expansion teams to the AL. So i would start with 4 teams in each league and end up with 4 teams in each league. Does the game have a problem with that scenario?

That scenario works just fine as you wind up with an even number of teams.

The game must be getting its info from somewhere else than it does for the
the next season. To explain, the game will not import the teams i inputed in the teams csv file when setting up a league but it will for the next season. I started a league in 1872 and had the Reds show up which i did not input but when i set up another league in 1871, all the teams i set up in the csv file were there.
