Lahman Database/Team Abbreviation question

I have OOTP 9. I would like to change the team abbreviations on the Lahman database. I am especially interested in having the players' stats from previous years listed with the team abbreviation I want.

Is it safe to change team abbreviation in the Lahman Database that comes with the game? Which of the Lahman spreadsheets would I change so that the downloaded players will have the "corrected" team abbreviations?

While I do want to make some minor revisions, such as changing the Dodgers' abbreviation from LAN to LA, more important to me is that the abbreviations reflect franchise shifts that occurred before I start playing in the 60s.

For example, in my baseball world:

The Giants stay in NY, while the Braves join the Dodgers in California.
The Browns move to Miami rather than Baltimore.
The A's move to Dallas (and stay put) rather than moving to Kansas City then Oakland.
The original Senators never move to Minnesota.

To use that last one as an example, Harmon Killebrew's stats would no longer list WS1 then MIN then (when I begin play in the mid-60s) WAS. Instead, it would list WAS from 1954 through 1975 (or whenever he is traded or retires).

Thank you for any help you can give.

Hmm, I went to My Computer > User’s Documents > Out of the Park Developments > OOTP 9 > stats and then to each of the spreadsheets that you listed. I saved the original versions of each spreadsheet in a specially named folder on my desktop. When I first pulled up the spreadsheets from the satats folder, there was an error message that said that they were not fully downloaded. I checked and indeed saw that they only listed the seasons up through 1988. (Unless this is somehow messing up the changes I want to make, only going up to 1988 is ok with me, since I download much earlier years.) I then replaced all the old, unwanted, team abbreviations with the new ones; I did this in the teamID column (and, for the Team spreadsheet, the teamIDlahman45 and the teamIDretro columns). When I saved, I retained the comma delineated version. I will say that prior to my saving the spreadsheet, the document name in the subfolder was in blue and is now in black.

When I downloaded a historical year, all the old team abbreviations were still listed on each player’s historical stats. Can anyone tell me where I went wrong?
Thanks
