Wacky Names
In my latest test sims, I keep getting some wacky names spit out by the computer. For example, a lot of "Chris D?z" and "Allen19 Harper", but mostly the players (mostly Latin) have ???'s in their names. I've changed my names files a couple of times, and re-imported the files from in-game, with no luck. I'm working with real roster sets, so I'm nervous about changing names. Any ideas?

Sounds like you edited your names.txt file is something that could not handle special characters.
I would suggest reading the "editing names.txt" part of the online manual again and see what might have happened. Probably best to start here... OOTP Baseball Manual - Customizing OOTP I had similar problems when I was playing with my nations.txt file. ![]() |

I agree, but the odd part is that I took a rudimentary look at my names .txt files and didn't come across anything of interest. Also, I have overwritten those files with my OOTP 8 files, reloaded my game after, and there was no change. Lastly, this problem only seems to be affecting teams I created during the process, and is usually a mixture of ???'s or a weird mix of Japanese or Asian name sets and usually American first names.

Did you ever resolve this problem? If you didn't let us know and we'll reopen this thread to continue sorting it.
