OOTP9 fails to start
Hi,
I downloaded the client from this site yesterday so I assume that I have the latest version. Trying to run it on a WinXP Pro SP3 Laptop with 1GB of ram and a 1.83 G processor. I can obviously try and provide a little more information if it would be helpful, but I don't really know where to start. Basically - having succesfully (I think) completed the install - several times - clicking on the shortcut to run the game results in... absolutely nothing. No busy signal from the processor, no menu screen - nothing, whatsoever, at all. I've had a trawl of the forums and seen a suggestion to try running the game in admin mode, but aside from that, no solution to this problem. If I can provide any information that would assist please let me know - otherwise, I'd love any help with this if possible. Cheers Matt |

Try right-clicking and "Run as Administrator".

Done that. My setting is already at the recommended one.
For the avoidance of doubt - if the solution you're going to suggest has been posted on this forum - I've already done it. I've had a few days to look around and try stuff... Last edited by MattE; 11-11-2008 at 10:36 AM. |

Can you open up Task Manager (and go to the Processes tab) and then double click the game icon and see if OOTP9.exe appears in the process list?

Thanks for coming back to me.
It appears for less than a second and then disappears. |

Hmmm. Looking at the posts above, did you ever manage to get it installed whilst logged in as Administrator?

If you can that would be good - it's obviously not liking something on startup and I wonder if that could be the reason.

So - tried it - identical symptom, game appears for less than a second and disappears again (on the task manager, that is - I never see any kind of menu).

Can you from your start menu, run Start > Programs > Out of the Park Developments > OOTP Baseball 9 > Tools > Start OOTP 9 with tracemode
When it disappears you should find in My Documents > Out of the Park Developments > OOTP Baseball 9 a file called ootp.log Could you email that file to markus@ootpdevelopments.com with a link to this thread and he can see what's happening. If the file is less than 100Kb can you also attach it to a reply in this thread? |

Saw this problem myself with my dad's computer. What ended up actually working was going into Program Files, Out of the Park Developments, OOTP 9 and clicking on the .exe there(looks like an OOTP9 logo). Game started right up. Give that a try as well. It appears that the desktop icon got disconnected somehow.

I'm sure that it's a problem with the eLicense toolkit. I'll send an email to the Viatech guys now.
