Updating web sites and reports
We've just completed the switch to OOTP9 and I'm wondering if, given the downloading of the league file, it was necessary to send the updated league reports and web pages to our web server at all.
Isn't all of that data contained within the league file that the players should download after every sim anyway? What's the story? |

A league, when loaded into someone's game, will generate any report which the player asks to see.
When an online league wants to post reports, the game goes through and "forces" the creation of all reports, so they will exist, in order to be put online. So a human player with a league loaded into his game has the ability to see any report, because the game will make it when he asks for it. The placing of reports online is just for the convenience of people, so that they're able to see these reports (for example if they're away from their game, but habe internet access) without using the game's mechanism to create them on demand. For a league to convert to v9 from an earlier version, you just need to make the v9 game files available to the owners. Whether or not you generate the reports for that league and put them online has nothing to do with the league actually converting, which takes place within the players' games. |
