Nicknames

How do you get rid of nicknames, besides deleting each and every one after the game has started? I just reinstalled the game and forgot to edit the nicknames file (deleting all entries) before I started my first game. So I closed the game, deleted all entries, created a new game from a template and it's still giving random nicknames to players.

Short of uninstalling the game, I don't know what to do.

As far as I know, the only thing you can do to get rid of the nicknames is...

1. Backup the original nickname.txt file and save it somewhere safe.
2. Open the nickname.txt file, then erase all the nicknames there by A: selecting all B: Delete.
3. Hit enter button once, so that you will have one nickname, which is a blank.
4. Save the new nickname.txt file with the original file name so that the game will recognize it.
5. Open the game, and create a new game (whatever style of the game)
6. Got to the game setup page, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page.
7. Hit the re-import name and ethnicity database button.
8. Quit the game. (Don't have to save it)
9. Create the game you want to play, not with the template nor quickstart!

I think the templates and quickstarts load the nickname database which was there when the templates/quickstarts were made.

Caution: Make sure you do not see any nicknames in the league. If you have one nickname left somewhere, it will somehow start spreading around the league, and you will see tons of them within 10 years... It means, if you get rid of the nicknames this way, you will never be able to have a nickname in your league. (even if you wanna have just one)

This is my best effort to help you here, but hope someone else will come here and give you a better one, which I do not know yet.
