Would you want Barry Bonds on your favorite Team?

Simple question. For me I say no I don't want that kind of distraction on my team. I think the media attention that he would generate would hurt a team more then his skill would help a team.

I don't think Bonds has the skills anymore. He's too old.

He should at best be a DH. No way should he play left field any more.

Considering my favorite team is in the NL, I'd prefer to see him wrestle monkeys in a rodeo over playing for the Mets.

I do feel that he could be a serviceable DH at this point in his career, though it's hard to really tell since he didn't get a chance to hit last year.

Buh bye now Mr. Bonds, don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

I don't want him on my favorite team, but I would really like to see the Yankees invest $50M in him.

since he was on my team for so long I can say he is no longer worth all the hassle that comes with him and that is what he, his agent and even the players union are missing.

when he was the best player in the league (ignoring the enhanced or not part) you could put up with all of the distractions that come with him.

Now that he is only a very good hitter, his output simply isn't worth all that goes with him. I think the only teams he would make sense for are AL teams that are close and could use his bat in the playoffs, so maybe the Yankees, Red Sox or Angels.

I'd love 2007-caliber Barry Bonds on my favorite team. I doubt he's anywhere near there anymore after a full season out of the bigs and turning 45 halfway through the season.

I say yes - it would mean that the Expos still existed.

I am probably in the minority. But I believe the year off may actualy help Bonds. It will give his knees and back time to heal. And the man is 44 years old and has over 12,000 plate appearences. He is not going to forget how to swing a back in a year.

But I dont think we will get to test my therory. I do not see a team signing him unfortunatly.

if my team was in the AL then sure i wouldn't mind giving him a shot with an incentive rich contract. but i wouldn't want a big base salary

If he were to play it would be DH. But, The Yanks and Red Sox, no. Red Sox have Ortiz (who you really dont want in the field either. Yanks, have Matsui. ANd either Nady or Swisher will be thrown to the bench. I dont see Yankees going after anymore bats unless they can play regular CF.

Angels, I dont know about their situation at DH.

Well, I dont think he would have trouble on a mental level. But, the body does start breaking down at that age. I think rest could help a player under certain circumstances, if they were younger.

Maybe if an independent team wanted to give him a shot (like Henderson/Strawberry and Bonds was willing to do it) and he proved to be close to 2007 form. An AL team might get interested (though very unlikely, barring injury plagues). Though even if Bonds did start out if he hadnt had offers after a month or 2, I dont see his ego taking him any farther down that path.

It is time to accept that it is the end of Bonds.
