Cubs Sold... Finally!

Ricketts family picked in Chicago Cubs owner derby - ESPN

How long has this been in the making for? Like 3 years?

It's not sold yet. They just picked who they want to negotiate the deal with. From your link:
Quote:
Ricketts must reach an agreement with Tribune Co., which filed for bankruptcy protection last month. While the Cubs and Wrigley Field were not included in the bankruptcy filing, a sale likely will have to be approved by the creditors' committee and possibly a bankruptcy judge.

In addition, a sale must be approved by baseball owners.

At least Cuban would spend money to make the Cubs a team of the 20th century now, instead of the 19th.

Sad really. Cuban would have made those fogey owners that have ruined baseball for generations in the future sit up and notice and maybe forced changes for the good.

(Sorry, I am a IU person, and Cuban is a fellow Hoosier. :P)

I'm glad Cuban didn't buy the Cubs--but only because I want to be able to at least support his team on some level.

+1

Love Cuban as an owner and I would've hated to see him own the Cubs, being a White Sox fan and all.
