Financials.txt file

Can someone attach or send me a copy of this file from OOTP9. I want to replace the one from v10 because the cash maximums are way too high in my opinion causing problems I didn't have in v9. I have removed v9 from my system.

It might not be compatible with X. We need confirmation here.

I have turned off financials for the 1st time ever using OOTP. The cash maximums in this version are enormous, causing teams to have tons of money to sign FA. They all go over budget with their payroll and have no money for extensions with their own players. Trading becomes impossible because the only trades that can be made must match dollar for dollar because all teams are in the red projected budget wise. I mean come on man...a team can sign a FA for 10 million per year but can't even resign a player who has played with them for years for the league minimum because they have no money for extensions?

A wise decision. The game isn't Baseball Tycoon.

The OOTP 9 financial file works perfectly well in OOTP X,I'm actually using it in my historical league.

I don't get what is going on here. Import the two files into Excel (you'll have to rename one or both files) and look at them side by side. What the heck?

They downgraded salaries and multiplied the cash maximums in the new file. Compare 2008: OOTP9 cash max $11.6MM and superstar salary $18.5MM. OOTP10 cash max $176MM and superstar salary $10.9MM. Just going by today's standards, OOTP9 would seem to have the more realistic numbers.

I'm already noticing in my game the problems that rwd59 described, so I'm going to switch back to OOTP9's financials.txt file. I would love to see somebody explain the huge differences between the two versions of this file.

Dola,

I just checked. Same situation as you, rwd59. It's 1903, two and a half years into my league, and every team is in the red versus budget but all have six figures worth of cash on hand.

Every team has gone over budget by signing free agents, but no team has any money for extensions. No trades are being made because unless the players are an exact match for each other in quality AND are making exactly the same money, one team is bound to go more negative versus budget. Therefore, the game is preventing any trades from happening.

[Bru, stop here, now.]

Can I just drop the .txt file into my existing game and re-write the old file? I haven't actually played any games yet, but I have all of the salaries the way I want, and I'm ready to start.

I need to know what I can do to be able to use the OOTP9 financial.txt file in my game without wrecking my universe.

I started a thread in tech support earlier on this issue but they closed it. That nis why I came here and asked for the file. Maybe you can try over there to see if something will get done. All my issues seem to be getting ignored over there. Historical finances are a mess, historical pitcher stamina has big time issues, the fielding model needs major work, and Rule 5 is useless to me due to "design decisions". I actually bought Action PC Baseball last night. Different style, but it gives me something to do. Other than the total disaster that was OOTP 2006, I have never been so disappointed in this game.

I think it depends upon the time of the year. I have observed that the financial settings update on the first day of the offseason, so you may already be too late in your game for the current season.

As for me, it's July. So, what I think may happen is, although I have dropped in the old (OOTP 9) financials.txt file over the new one, I don't think I will see anything reset until my offseason. I will check the first day. It may take a "year" or two for the financials to right themselves, however.

Due diligence note: I am posting this in tech support, linking back to this thread.

I had all of these same problems with the default OOTP X file, and no matter what I did to modify it,I could never get it right. So,I bucked up and had to restart everything all over again with OOTP 9's file, and I haven't had a problem since. What I think happend was,a new crew took over the financials in beta, and they tried a few different things that unfortunately just didn't work.

If you look at the new file, it is messed up...

In 1982, "Fair" players overtake "Below Average" players (who are supposedly better than them) on the salary scale and it stays that way to the present.

For many years the minimum wage is more than what any player rated worse than "Average" is scheduled to make....

The file posted from V9 is better in terms of it's shape (though it has "Superstars" making over a million in the early 60's).

Well, if this file will correct the problem I can let this one go. However, I still get no answer as to why pitchers import with a stamina of 1 or 2 on a 1-100 scale when they were starters the vast majority of their career. I have it set to use their career stamina rather than their rookie season or a 3 year period. It looks as though the setting is broken as I have tons of pitchers import as MR with pitiful stamina when their actual rookie year they were used in relief and did not pitch very much. A guy who started 80% of his career games pitched should not have a 1 in stamina.

Financials are one part of this game that everyone overlooks until they see their leagues going askew salary-wise. For my last league I tried to calculate my average attendance and ticket price to result in a certain income once merchandising and media contracts were added in. Once cash maximums were limited to some extent, my league was ready to run.

goes in the data folder with all the other text files....

It seems that this is fixed for people who download new versions of the game. My son just bought a copy the other day and it had the OOTP9 file included.....
