Finding recently imported players
Hi everyone,
I play historical, and I have it setup so that each year rookies who debuted get imported and assigned to the team they debuted for in real life. I was curious... is there a good in-game filter or query I can use to get a list of those players that were just imported? I basically want to see all the new imports and go through them to make sure they have the correct photos, positions and ratings aren't completely out of whack, etc. Can I filter by player creation date, sort by player id, or search for players without stats? I haven't been able to find a good way to do this. I've just been going to baseball-reference.com, looking at the debut player list for that year, and manually finding each player in OOTP to check them, which can take awhile. It'd be nice to just scroll down a list within the game. Thanks! |

It's probably not the most efficient, but check the transaction log for the date you have the new players imported.
You can also use the filters to put in "Batting AB is below 1" and "Pitching G is below 1. |

Thanks RamMan - I'll try those filters on the stats (AB and G). Hopefully it doesn't show me every minor league player with no big league stats. I'll post back if it works as intended.
Yeah the transaction list is pretty much just like finding the list on baseball-reference - I'm looking for a way to be able to scroll through each player's profile without having to find them or search for their name manually - and creating a list using a filter will be the easiest way. Hopefully your suggestion will work. Thanks! |

Guess what I'm trying to do isn't possible. Oh well. I checked a few of the high profile rookies and their pictures/ratings all looked OK, so I guess that will have to do. If anyone has any other ideas to get a navigable list of newly imported players, please let me know. Thanks! |

Change the scope to "career"

Duh... good point. I had to change the split to "career" and the Scope to "All Levels" and that gave me a decent number of the players I was looking for.
But while playing around with this, I think I found an even better filter. My scout hasn't had a chance to scout any of the new imports yet, so if I have scouting set to my scout and search for players with a CON equal to 0, I get all the players who have not been scouted i.e. the new imports. I have to go to the "Show all players" screen for each individual level in order to see those new imports who were assigned to the Majors, AAA, AA, etc., but it gives me the exact list of players I was looking for! So if anyone else ever wants a list of the players you just imported, here's what you do. 1) Go to the top level league Transactions screen and click on Show all players. 2) Set scouting to your team's scout. I guess if you have scouting turned off this won't work for you, but you could still probably do a filter with career plate appearances AND games pitched (with a scope of all levels) equal to 0. If you have scouting turned on, create a filter with any attribute (like CON) equal to 0. 3) You can now scroll through your new imports. If you need to check players who were assigned to other leagues like AAA, choose that league from the drop-down to display the "Show all players" screen with your same filter for that league. Thanks RamMan for helping me figure out a way to do this. |
