Custom League - real players

Will it be easier in this version to create a custom fictional league (cities, ballparks, etc) starting in a year certain, using mlb players from that time, and then drafting mlb players year to year?

I used to be able to do this to a point, but in the last few versions it became too complicated for my feeble brain so i just stopped playing.

Ideally, I'd want to start in, say, 1988 or so, with a 16-24 team league with everything completely fictional except for players.

Is this going to be easy to do? Thanks.

I've never done this so I wouldn't know precisely, but I would assume it would be the same level of difficulty as in previous games.

Wouldn't it just be a matter of starting a 1988 historical game, then releasing all the players, deleting all the teams, creating the number of teams you want, where you want, then scheduling an inaugural draft? And also clearing the previous history, if you want to start everything fresh?

I recall in previous versions having some difficulty matching the ballparks up right and getting the financials sort of right. I can always try, but I'd like to make my little fictional world as real as possible, and it seemed too much of a chore on the front end. I would really like a simplified wizard or tutorial for accomplishing this. I don't have the time or patience with the game I used to, though that's on me, not the game.
