The Baseball Chronicle

The Baseball Chronicle is a long-running league using fictional players in a real-world historical universe that began in 1871 and is now in the 1940s. TBC is now on its fifth version of OOTP having started back in OOTP 9.

GMs (and non-GM followers of the leagues) are encouraged to create their own players (either "ancestors" or simply made-up guys) on the TBC website.

Special Rules & Settings: This is a talent-only league. Coaches are on, scouts are off. We'll attempt to mimic the Reserve Clause era with financials on, no free agency, no rookie draft. The top-level minors (PCL, IL and AA) are in the game, but independent with mechanisms in place for the MLB teams to be able to draw from these leagues.

MLB: Giants, Highlanders (Yankees)

The Baseball Chronicle attempts to model, as closely as possible, real baseball history with fictional players. We use special rules for player procurement and will include things such as the Federal League, both World Wars, and the gradual development of the farm system in our march through history.

TBC is an homage not only to great OOTP 6.5 leagues such as Time Warp Baseball and PBRL, but also to baseball history itself. Who will be TBC's "Babe Ruth" or "Ted Williams?" Join in and find out, it's going to be a great ride.

About the TBC Commissioner:
The commish has years of experience running OOTP leagues going back to OOTP 2 the most successful of which was Greatest Generation Baseball which ran for 20 seasons, covering versions 4 thru 6.5 of the sim. Other long-running leagues included the 20th Century Chronicle, a season-per-week league that ran the 1901-2000 seasons and BaTTY which was similar to 20CC but scrambled debut dates. All three were long-running, successful leagues and some of the GMs from those leagues (as well as some TWB & PBRL vets) are signed on for TBC.

We recently switched to OOTP 13 for the 1942 season, which is about to wrap up (we're in September). There are a few teams open as some guys did not make the switch. We also switched from being an OOOL league to just being a "regular" online league (had some major issues with OOOL after upgrading to 13).

The open teams are the White Sox, Reds, Phillies and Pirates.

Yep, we do two and a half months per week. With offseason stuff we turn around a season in a little under four weeks, typically.

We do have a draft for amateur players. Now that OOTP has association ability, the draft is combined for MLB & the PCL. The MLB teams do have an annual lottery for the right to draft a player out of the PCL as well as a "lower minor lottery" that gives teams a player every few years "out of the bushes."

TBC had some issues related to OOOL which forced us to "reboot" the league back to 1903. We have two openings: the Indians and Pirates. The rookie draft will be early this coming week, so this would be a great time to get in at what is essentially the beginning.

TBC has three openings for the 1905 season: the Cincinnati Reds, New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies.

TBC has a few openings: the St. Louis Browns, Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds are open! We've just started the 1906 season.

For anyone wondering, this is a great league. It is run very well. Unfortunately, something is jacked with my computer and I couldn't import. I still keep up with it from time to time though.

It looks like we might have a Giants GM- that would only leave the Highlanders (who are about to become the Yankees) as the last remaining opening.

Just a monthly bump....

It turns out that the Giants are still open (as are the Highlanders - who will soon become the Yankees).

The Giants have "Mighty Joe" Young, a 21-year-old CF who is probably one of the 5 best players in the league - a very good piece to build around....

The Highlanders are more of a reclamation project - they have a couple of solid guys, but no bona fide superstar like Young.

We're in the middle of the 1909 season with about a week to go until we're in the off-season again.

I've been a long time participant in legendsport's league. Very well run and great leagues.

I'm running the Brooklyn club in this league. If you like the history of baseball, this is the league for you. Trust me on this one.
