Auto recalc in fictional leagues

I've been playing OOTP for a long time and have never used auto recalc. I always play fictional leagues and thought the auto recalc was for historical. Just looking for some reassurance here...

I started a fictional league with OOTP 13. I entered the year I wanted to match statistically, adjusted any modifiers to my liking and then started playing. I'm only a few years into my career so not long enough to see any long term trends. I shouldn't be messing with auto recalc or anything in that area in this type of setup should i?

In this case no auto-recalc every year is necessary, so you're good to go if you run it once before the first season starts (but after the inaugural draft).

Hmm - you HAVE to run it before the first season starts? I didn't know that.

What happens if you have it on and you're well into the future? Any reasons to keep it on?

I've had it on forever and I'm in 2026 about to go into 2027.
