Question regarding expansion

In OOTP14, Im trying to start a game in the 1962 expansion. When I start the game the NY Mets have already drafted their team. As the 1962 Mets GM how do I draft the expansion team instead of the historically generated one. Sorry Im new to the game and cant figure out how to do this.

Start your league in 60 or 61(make sure you choose the option to expand historically and the option to hold expansion draft) and sim ahead to the end of the 61 season. Your league will expand automatically and you will be able to draft your team. There is also the option to choose how many players each team is allowed to protect.

Thanks for the response. I have a couple questions. 1. In the 1961 season to I stay unemployed? 2. Will being GM for the Mets become an option come the end of the 1961 season?

Yes. You can take over any team you want at any time in OOTP. Put the game in "Commish Mode" and you can take over the team of your choice.

Thanks for the help. I just started OOTP14 and already its 100,000x better than Baseball Mogul.

Welcome. Just my opinion, but OOTP is the best sports game ever created.
