Star players not playing Imported league

First I just noticed 2 things that concern me the 2 players below are former MVP in there respective leagues and were replaced by people no where near there value, now is this because of stats or something or has anybody else seen this happen because I want to face the best competition.

Alvarez has 29 hits when his team won the series in 2048 this season hasn't started a post season game.

Whiteway is the best player ever in the CBL and even tho he might not be the best catcher he could still play and since i've been following his career i got him to start for the rest of the season but he had 2 amazing seasons and then doesn't get to play??

The Washington team doesn't have anyone good who can play CF so I can understand some of it but he isn't sucky fielder and would get a better rating at CF would play him in CF if I had to why wouldn't the AI?
