Draft Help

Going to back to the well here with you vets.

From the general look of things, if two players were comparable in the draft, I would be better off selecting a HS player over a college player, correct?

Because if the are both 1/5 currently and have similar numbers overall, I should go with the younger guy since he will have more time to develop?

My baseball sense says to draft the college guy, but I don't want to messing this up.

do they have the same levels in personality traits? (work ethic, intelligence, etc)

all other things equal, I typically go for the players with the higher work ethic.

You have to look at their personality ratings. A HS player might have more time to develop, but that assumes he'll continuously, positively develop. He might not. He may flame out too soon.

Likewise, a college player being very smart, might be too hard to sign after the draft, temporarily wasting the draft pick.

For the most part, I look at intelligence, work ethic, and leadership as my primary personality ratings, and when finding a player in the pool that best exemplifies those ratings, I check his signability, to see if I should even bother. If I see Impossible or Very hard, I look elsewhere.

I really didn't know their personalities mattered that much.

So would you rather take a stud with very low work ethic or a middle of the road guy a high work ethic?

The latter.

But remember: you can turn personalities off if you choose to. The game still plays just fine.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.
