Smart baserunning / defense
I like playing manager, so I'll pick a minor league team and just manage the roster and actively manage the games. There is one thing I can't figure is the base running / defense AI. There will be a runner on second with first empty. The batter hits the ball right to the SS, and they throw the batter out and the runner takes 3rd! What gives? Don't the infielders know how to hold a runner before they throw? How do you get the defenders to defend against the lead runner, not just the batter? Although I suspect I'm the rare duck that doesn't play the GM role and gets more into the game by game management.
As a new guy regarding the management of personnel in a minor league system, I also wonder abut the realism of how frequently minor league players at the R and A level get shuffled around. I'll lose a player to another team in the middle of the season, then a week later he's brought back to my team. Does that really happen? |

If the ball is hit slowly and the SS has to charge in, or if the SS has to move to his left, then yes, a good baserunner should advance to third.
