Finding personnel for minor league teams
I'm just wondering if there is an easy way of finding which personnel are willing to sign up as minor league managers, trainers etc? Most of them say they aren't interested (especially at the lower levels) and it's a bit laborious to check through them all individually to try to find the best one available who's willing to work for the Hicksville Honey Badgers.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

I hear ya, man. It can be a major PITA to go through and find coaches for the lower minor league levels, but don't get too frustrated. In a way, this is one of the beautiful things about OOTP that you should step back and think about: Why is it hard to find good coaching at lower levels? Answer: good coaching rises to the top of an organization's priorities.
Here's what I look for. First, make sure that you target coaches that may not have the most experience, but DO have your interests in mind. Example: If you need a HC at rookie ball, make sure he has a good enough "teaches hitting" rating and "handles rookies" rating yes, but more importantly, check out his coaching tendencies. You'll find that some coaches "prefer" different things which can leave you wondering if they'd be a good fit anyway. I've hired coaches that had good ratings, but "preferred" the opposite of what their coaching title says (HC that favors pitching over hitting). Finally, once you've hired the coaches, keep an eye on them and their team to make sure that there's not a better coach out there wanting a chance. Don't worry too much about the money, just hire a coach that's better whenever you need to. |
