Coach impact?

Hey guys,

I've been playing around with OOTP for a little over a year and have always wondered about the importance of the coaching staff. I assume it affects the development of rookies/veterans/hitters/pitchers etc. but I can't determine to what degree. Should I expect a Legendary hitting coach to boost CON/POW/EYE by +1 across the board over a Decent coach? Does handling Rookies well greatly increase their effectiveness as they mature into players? What level of importance should I be giving to my coaches?

This is more of an impression than a data-driven exercise, but I have noticed that some of my prospects/MLB players with LEGENDARY coaches seem more likely to have Current ratings higher than their Potential ratings.
