How will I go about adding more surnames to the database so they can randomly appear?

Type the new surnames (and frequency) in the database\names.txt file.

Then 'import database' from the game itself.

It should do the trick.

Actually were exactly do find that database? Are in order by race/nationality?

The file is in Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 16\database. There a couple numbers on each line. I'm not sure what the first one is, but I believe the second one ties to the ethnicities.txt file.

The surnames are stored as comma-delimited with three columns: name, frequency, and ethnicity. When the game looks to load a name, it looks for an ethnicity and then uses the frequency as a weight.

Unless you need specific names just use Questdog's Modern Names mod. Amazing mod, adds so much immersion.

I notice tons of Spanish names are missing like De La Paz, De La Crux, Del Toro, Del Rio, Villapando

The mod contains every Hispanic name in the United States of which at least 5 people had in 2000. There should not be any missing names.

If you have evidence to the contrary, I will consider it. It is possible that I made a mistake somewheres, but all the names you listed, except de la Crux, are already included.

Is the names file like the nicknames file in that once you input a name for use it then saves it to the file for the rest of that league?

For example, if the name Jackson was not in the file, and I named a player Jackson, would it then save it to the file? (Or, in OP's case, if he added the missing de la Crux using your file?)

It used to be, but I am not sure anymore...probably. But with what frequency? Although, I think de la Crux was a typo on his part and he meant de la Cruz, which is in there already.

No I know or two families with the name De La Crux with and "X" one lives in San Diego the others in Ensenada, Mexico. I uncommon name but I met a few too is Mondragon

If you download the mod and open the names.txt you will see all of them, and you can also add in there.

Mondragon is in there.

I have found "de la Crux" on the internet with a few people (must have misspelled it last night when I searched). I will add it to the next version of the mod.
