Cleveland Against the World: A Guardians Dynasty!
Welcome to the 2025 Cleveland Guardians Dynasty!! Aside from a Miracle run in 2016 thanks to someone named Lebron James, the city of Cleveland has had quite its fair share of heartbreak over the years. We're aiming to end that here, taking a Guardians Squad fresh off an ALCS appearance!!
Everything in terms of AI and team preferences will be remaining at default, but one thing you should know is that I'm using ratings 20-80 instead of Stars. I will provide quick recaps of every game, and provide league updates every 2 weeks, and we're just gonna have a good time, and hopefully bring a title back to Cleveland!! Owner Goals coming up next! |

Pre-season Roster Moves/Opening Day Roster
Demotions (among players with MLB service time)
RP Triston Mckenzie (39/39 OVR/POT) designated for assignment. This is unfortunate, but Mckenzie is coming off a career low season and the ceiling on him has seemed to lower. CF Daniel Schneeman (42/42) demoted to Triple AAA. Our outfield is log jammed, and we have quite a few utility guys as well. Schneeman has a good ceiling though, maybe we'll see him throughout the year. OPENING DAY ROSTER Rotation 1: Tanner Bibee, RHP (52/52) - The ace of a 2024 staff missing Shane Bieber. Bieber is still out until July-ish, but Bibee is a formidable top of a rotation arm as well, coming off a 3.47 ERA, 187 K season 2: Gavin Williams, RHP (49/55) - Rough 2024 (4.86 ERA) but more potential than any arm on the team 3: Luis Ortiz, RHP (47/47) - Acquired in the Andres Gimenez to Toronto flip from Pittsburgh, finished 2024 with a 3.32 ERA in 135.2 IP 4: Vince Velazquez, RHP (46/46) - Hasn't pitched since 2023, but posted a 3.86 ERA over 37.1 IP that year. Provides solid veteran presence in an otherwise young rotation 5: Ben Lively, RHP (45/45) - Came out of nowhere in 2024, posting a 3.81 ERA over 151 IP No lefties is a tad concerning but there's lefties in the pen, and some can even make a spot start if needed. Shane Bieber, Slade Cecconi and John Means are on IL, but should all have ML spots at some point Bullpen CL: Emmanuel Clase, RHP (70/70) - Needs no introduction. He's the guy. Just ignore the 2024 playoffs SU: Cade Smith, RHP (67/67) - Was almost, if not as dominant as Clase in 2024, as a rookie. MR: Tim Herrin, LHP (52/52) - Herrin posted a 1.92 ERA in 52.1 IP MR: Joey Cantillo, LHP (44/47) - Cantillo struggled a bit in limited action in 2024, posting a 4.89 ERA in 38.2 IP, but he's still young and can also provide spot starts if needed MR: Hunter Gaddis, RHP (48/48) - Posted a 1.57 ERA in 74.2 IP to solidify the best back bullpen in baseball in 2024 MR: Paul Sewald, RHP (48/48) - Posted a 4.31 ERA in 39.1 IP while losing the closer role in Arizona in 2024 LR: Logan Allen, LHP (40/40) - Struggled mightily in 2024, posting a 5.73 ERA in 97.1 IP. However, he's an extra lefty for the pen and we need him more than Mckenzie right now. LR: Jakob Junis, RHP (43/43) - Low risk signing from the offseason, Junis posted a 2.69 ERA in 67 IP with Cincinnati and Milwaukee in 2024 Infielders C Bo Naylor (47/57) - Will handle starting C duties to start the year. Struggled in 2024 (.201/.264/.350) but still hit 13 HR, shows a lot of pop but still has a decent bit to learn as a big leaguer C Cooper Ingle (41/49) - Made the MLB roster for his debut, will backup Naylor. Hit .281 in 25 games in AA Akron in 2024 1B Nolan Jones (48/50) - Will handle starting 1B duties to start the year. Struggled in Colorado in 2024, but is just 1 year removed from a breakout 2023 campaign that saw a .297 clip with 20 HR 1B Kyle Manzardo (49/58) - Will handle DH duties against RHP to start the year. Hit just .234 with 5 HR over 53 G in 2024 but showed lots of promise in his second MLB stint, including the playoffs 1B Carlos Santana (46/46) - Will handle DH duties against LHP to start the year. Returning for potentially his swan song, hitting .238 with 23 HR and 71 RBI with Minnesota in 2024 2B Gabriel Arias (46/52) - Will handle starting 2B duties to start the year. This is essentially his last chance. He still has quite a bit of ceiling but has disappointed a few years now, hitting just .222 in 2024 3B Jose Ramirez (68/68) - Also needs no introduction. He's Jose Ramirez SS Brayan Rocchio (46/49) - Rocchio showed lots of signs during the 2024 playoffs, it will be interesting to see where he can go in 2024 LF Steven Kwan (50/50) - Will handle starting LF duties. Hit .292 in 2024 and will bat leadoff CF Lane Thomas (48/48) - Will handle starting CF duties. Acquired at last year's trade deadline, hit 2 monumental home runs in the ALDS in 2024 RF Will Brennan (47/47) - Will handle starting RF duties. Hit .264 with 8 HR over 330 AB in 2024 RF Jhonkensy Noel (42/46) - Hit big home runs, but too much a free swinger for a starting job just yet RF Johnathan Rodriguez (44/48) - Depth outfielder, could do DH duties as well Outfield logjam is real, I could teach one of these games to utility infield as well. (Yes, I know Schneeman played infield) |

Week 1: 3 @ Kansas City (March 27-30)
Before Opening Day, RP Triston Mckenzie cleared waivers and was optioned to AAA
March 27th Guardians 3, Royals 2 WP: Tanner Bibee (1-0, 2.35) LP: Cole Ragans (0-1, 4.05) SV: Emmanuel Clase (1, 0.00) HR- CLE: None KC: Bobby Witt Jr. (1) Bibee leads the Guardians to an opening day victory! All scoring in this game came in the 6th inning. Jose Ramirez brought home the first run of the game with a single, and later in the inning Nolan Jones supplied a 2 run double. Bibee surrendered a 2 run home run to Witt in the bottom half of the inning, but was overall sharp, going 7.2 IP allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, walking 1 and striking out 9! March 28th Off Day LEAGUE NEWS: Toronto CL Jeff Hoffman will miss 7 weeks with a sore shoulder. A tough blow to the Blue Jays pen March 29th Guardians 9, Royals 7 WP: Logan Allen (1-0, 6.75) LP: Kris Bubic (0-1, 14.73) SV: Emmanuel Clase (2, 0.00) HR- CLE: Carlos Santana (1) KC: Johnathan India (1) The Guardians jumped Kris Bubic early, as he would go just 3.2 IP allowing 6 earned. Gavin Williams threw 4.2 no-hit innings before walking in a run in the 5th at 91 pitches, being pulled for Allen who ends up with the win. Cleveland held an 8-1 lead at one point but was able to hold on, KC scoring 4 runs in the 9th before Clase shut the door March 30th Guardians 7, Royals 1 WP: Luis Ortiz (1-0, 0.00) LP: Seth Lugo (0-1, 18.00) HR- CLE: Jose Ramirez (1), Kyle Manzardo (1), Bo Naylor (1) KC: None For the 2nd game in a row, the Guards jump KC's starter early, for 7 runs in 3 innings. This time, they used the long ball, Ramirez in the first, Manzardo in the 3rd, setting up the knockout punch for Bo Naylor, a 3 run homer also in the third. Luis Ortiz dazzled in his Guardians debut, going 7 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits, walking 2 and striking out 7! Unfortunately, Naylor bruised his toe in his hotel room after the game! He was placed on the 10 day IL but shouldn't miss more than just that. TRANSACTION C Bo Naylor placed on 10 Day IL with a bruised toe. C Kody Huff (36 OVR/39 POT) will be called up in his place Team Record: 3-0 |

Week 2: 3 @ San Diego (March 31-April 2), 3 @ Los Angeles (LAA) (April 4-6)
LEAGUE NEWS:
AL POTW: Tyler O'Niell, LF, BAL (.368, 4 HR, 8 RBI) NL POTW: Fernando Tatis Jr., RF, SD (.500, 1 HR, 3 RBI) March 31st Guardians 3, Padres 1 WP: Vince Velazquez (1-0, 1.50) LP: Kyle Hart (0-1, 3.18) SV: Emmanuel Clase (3, 0.00) HR- CLE: Jose Ramirez (2), Lane Thomas (1) SD: None The Guards keep rolling with their 4th straight! Vince Velazquez, in his first start in over a year, was dealing allowing just 1 run over 6 innings on 3 hits. The Guards used a couple solo shots today, with Ramirez opening the scoring in the 4th, and then Lane Thomas getting to Hart to break a 1-1 tie in the 6th. Cooper Ingle's first MLB hit drove a big insurance run in with a single in the 7th LEAGUE NEWS Texas LF Joc Pederson and Cincinnati LHP Nick Lodolo will sit out 4 and 6 games, respectively, for a fight Atlanta 1B Matt Olson will miss 4 weeks with an oblique strain April 1st Guardians 3, Padres 1 WP: Ben Lively (1-0, 1.50) LP: Dylan Cease (0-1, 2.53) SV: Emmanuel Clase (4, 0.00) HR- CLE: Kyle Manzardo (2) SD: Fernando Tatis Jr. (2) Cleveland keeps rolling with their 5th straight! Manzardo opened things with a 2 run shot in the first and the Guards kept the lead. Ben Lively went 6 innings allowing just 1 run on a solo Tatis shot. From there, the back end of the bullpen did its thing. LEAGUE NEWS Braves RHRP Craig Kimbrel and Red Sox LHRP Justin Wilson have both announced they will retire at season's end We have another fight! This time, Rays Rookie CF Jake Mangum and Pirates LHP Andrew Heaney have been suspended 5 and 11 games, respectively April 2nd Guardians 5, Padres 6 (11 innings) WP: Adrian Morejon (3-0, 0.00) LP: Tim Herrin (0-1, 0.00) HR- CLE: Carlos Santana (2) SD: Jason Heyward (1), Fernando Tatis Jr. (3) It took a wild, 11 inning thriller, but the Guardians win streak has been snapped. Carlos Santana broke a 1-1 tie with a 2 run shot in the 6th, but the Padres quickly bounced back, and Tatis hit a solo shot off Bibee in the 8th to give the Padres a 4-3 lead. Guardians magic continued and after a Cooper Ingle leadoff double, Jose Ramirez brought him in to tie the game down to their last out! After both teams scored in the 10th, that magic unfortunately ran out as the team failed to score in the 11th, allowing the Padres to manufacture the ghost runner across, culminating in a Jose Iglesias walk off sac fly. Tim Herrin takes the loss despite not allowing an earned run over 2 innings of work. April 3rd Off Day April 4th Guardians 2, Angels 1 WP: Gavin Williams (1-0, 0.90) LP: Yusei Kikuchi (1-1, 1.35) SV: Emmanuel Clase (5, 0.00) HR- CLE: None LAA: Taylor Ward (1) Today, 2 runs was all it took, as Gavin Williams and the rest of the Cleveland staff took care of business, with Ward's solo HR in the 5th off Williams the only mark. Yusei Kikuchi takes a tough loss after allowing 2 runs in 7.2 IP LEAGUE NEWS Nationals LHRP Jose Ferrer will miss the 2025 season after undergoing elbow reconstruction surgery April 5th Guardians 7, Angels 8 WP: Reid Detmers (2-0, 4.05) LP: Luis Ortiz (1-1, 3.60) SV: Kenley Jansen (2, 6.75) HR- CLE: Carlos Santana (3), Gabriel Arias (1) LAA: Mike Trout (2), Nolan Schanuel (1), Jorge Soler (4) Luis Ortiz gave up a pair of 2 run shots to Trout and Schanuel in the first, and a costly Jose Ramirez error in the 2nd led to 3 more unearned runs, forcing Ortiz out of the game after just 3 innings. The Guardians nearly clawed all the way back (down 8-2) but fell just short, as Kenley Jansen shuts the door after giving up a run April 6th Guardians 3, Angels 1 WP: Jakob Junis (1-0, 2.25) LP: Tyler Anderson (1-1, 2.53) SV: Emmanuel Clase (5, 0.00) HR- CLE: Lane Thomas (2), Jose Ramirez (3) LAA: Luis Rengifo (1) Once again, a couple of long balls is enough to do the trick as the Guardians take the series thanks to good pitching. Vince Velazquez gave up a leadoff home run to Luis Rengifo but finished with 4.1 IP allowing just 1 run over 3 hits while walking 3 and K'ing 4. Lane Thomas tied the game with a solo shot in the 4th, and Jose Ramirez delivered the knockout blow in the 6th. Jakob Junis threw 2 shutout innings to earn the win Team Record: 7-2 |

Week 3: 3 vs Chicago (CWS), 3 vs Kansas City
LEAGUE NEWS:
AL POTW: Aaron Judge, RF, NYY (.481, 5 HR, 13 RBI) NL POTW: Seiya Suzuki, RF, CHC (.423, 1 HR, 4 RBI) The Guardians rank #1 on the weekly power rankings! A red-hot start, but can it be maintained? April 7th Off day. April 8th White Sox 6, Guardians 3 WP: Jared Shuster (1-1, 10.80) LP: Tanner Bibel (1-1, 4.50) SV: Brandon Eissert (2, 2.84) HR- CWS: None CLE: None Not much to say, Bibee only went 5 innings allowing 4, and Elehuris Montero delivered a big 2 run double in the 8th of Cade Smith for insurance April 9th White Sox 14, Guardians 7 WP: Bryce Wilson (1-0, 5.73) LP: Ben Lively (1-1, 3.60) HR- CWS: Mike Tauchman (1), Josh Rojas (2), Luis Robert (2), Michael Taylor (2) CLE: Kyle Manzardo (3) Woof. Ben Lively goes just 4 innings allowing 3 runs before leaving the game with shoulder inflammation. Manzardo delivered a 3 run homer in the 5th to bring the Guardians within a run, but after that it was all sox. Tim Herrin and Hunter Gaddis get hit around in the late game, with Luis Robert hitting a grand slam in the 8th, and Michael Taylor adding a 3 run shot in the 9th TRANSACTIONS Ben Lively will miss about 3 months with his shoulder. Ugh. He's placed on the IL, and we call up Dylan Delucia, a 24 year old RHP (44 OVR/49 POT) who pitched to a 2.52 ERA in limited time with A+ Lake County in 2024. Nic Enright (47/47) will likely take the roster spot when he is taken off IL in about a week. Delucia will join the bullpen, and Joey Cantillo will take Lively's spot in the rotation. C Bo Naylor is also off the IL and has been activated. Kody Huff has been optioned to AAA April 10th White Sox 2, Guardians 3 WP: Jakob Junis (2-0, 2.70) LP: Mike Clevinger (0-1, 9.45) SV: Emmanuel Clase (7, 0.00) HR- CWS: Miguel Vargas (2) CLE: Carlos Santana (4) The Guardians get their first home win of the year to avoid the sweep! Gavin Williams strikes out 10 and allows just 1 run on 5 hits, but only over 5 innings. Chicago held a 1-0 lead until the 7th, where the Guards rallied against Clevinger for 3 runs, capped off by Carlos Santana's go-ahead 2 run shot! Junis gave up a solo shot in the 8th, but Smith and Clase shut the door from there. Clase has yet to allow a run. April 11th Royals 3, Guardians 5 WP: Luis Ortiz (2-1, 3.00) LP: Michael Wacha (0-2, 4.82) SV: Emmanuel Clase (8, 0.00) HR- KC: Vinnie Pasquantino (4) CLE: None Luis Ortiz's only blemish was a solo shot to Pasquantino in the 2nd. He finished with 5 IP allowing just a run on 3 hits, but walking 3 and finishing with 107 pitches. Poor defense leads to things getting more interesting than they should have, but Clase shuts the door again. April 12th Royals 0, Guardians 1 WP: Cade Smith (1-0, 2.84) LP: Will Smith (0-1, 6.00) HR- KC: None CLE: Lane Thomas (3) Vince Velazquez and Angel Zerpa were going toe to toe in an epic clash, Zerpa ran into slightly more trouble over 5.2 IP but was able to work out of it. Velazquez finished with 6 shutout innings on 3 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 7. He has a 1.10 ERA to start the year! In the end, Lane Thomas took Will Smith deep in the bottom of the 8th for the lead, and Cade Smith, who got the final out of the 8th, stayed on to finish the game and give Cleveland their 3rd straight win! TRANSACTION RHP Slade Cecconi (44/47) has been activated off the IL and will slide into the bullpen. Logan Allen (39/39) has been optioned to AAA, he had a 9.00 ERA to start the year after struggling last year April 13th Royals 4, Guardians 9 WP: Hunter Gaddis (1-0, 4.70) LP: Cole Ragans (0-2, 8.71) HR- KC: Bobby Witt Jr. (4) CLE: Gabriel Arias (2), Brayan Rocchio (1) The Guardians, once down 4-1 in the game, used a little bit of long balls and a little but of small ball to sweep the Royals, who are now 0-6 against Cleveland and just 4-12 to start the year. Tanner Bibee was not his best today, allowing 4 runs over 5.2 IP. Arias got the scoring started for Cleveland with a solo shot, and the Guards used the 6th inning to HAMMER Ragans with a barrage of singles and doubles, claiming a 7-4 lead by the time the inning ended. Rocchio hit a 2 run shot in the 8th to add insurance! LEAGUE NEWS: Dodgers Superstar SP/DH Shohei Ohtani will miss 6-7 weeks with elbow inflammation. Ohtani had been off to a rough start, hitting just .159 with 1 home run Team Record: 11-4 |
