Optimal World Setup
Hey all, I'm an OOTP veteran, but it's been a few versions since I played and I know the "world" within the game has been expanded considerably.
My question is around the minors and the overall world. Simply, is there an optimal setup for this? Let's say I want to run a 24-team league with two or three levels of minor leagues, will the game populate the draft with enough players to keep that full over time? Perhaps more importantly, if I turn off all the other leagues around the world will the game still provide a solid cross-section of stars/middling/bums to come up through the ranks? I don't want to have to manage a huge world (both due to effort and processing time), but I want to make sure the league continues developing the way it would in real life. Does anyone have thoughts on a solid approach? |

You control the # of rounds your draft is, so keeping your minors populated is simple. The rule of thumb is 5 rounds for every level of minors. So in your case, 3 levels would be a 15 rnd draft. I always set mine to create enough players for 2 more rounds that I'm actually having, so for a 15 rnd draft I have OOTP create enough players for a 17 rnd draft. The left overs go into FA (unless you're using feeders).
Development can also be controlled by you, as can PCM's (Player Creation Modifiers) but default will give you a good cross of all-stars, avg, bench, scrub players. |
