Illegal Number of Players on Roster

I am getting this message: "Garland has an illegal number of players on the active roster (8)". There is no team anywhere in my organization named Garland. I can't move forward in my season because of this error, and I have no idea how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it a custom league, standard league?

Have you edited the structure in any way, added leagues or teams, deleted leagues, anything like that?

Sorry, I found a team named Garland in the Rookie league. I tried filling the rosters with fictional players but that didn't work.

What do you mean it "didn't work"?

Run the computer manager on that organization.

I set the screen to the rookie league, went to "League settings" , set "All computer teams to allow AI roster changes", then set "Fill teams with fictional players". This filled the Garland team and I was able to complete the game day. After that day, the roster emptied again, and I repeated the process. This filled the rosters again. It appears to be holding. This thing I was missing was to go to set the rookie league to be the active one before altering the league settings. I think this fixed it. I very much appreciate your help.

Not sure if you are aware.
There is an option called "Allow incomplete rosters (Ghost players). It removes a little "realism" while removing this problem completely.

never had this problem before and now 3-4 of the ML teams are having this problem as they are waiving and DFA all but 7 or 8 players - note this only started happening today on latest patch. 16.7.36

going to do some digging and I will report back

I don't have ghost players turned on because I enjoy the full minors.

plus I am a historical\fictional hybrid of MLB - that is I am in a normal MLB league with 4 levels of minors in 1979 - started in 1977 with existing historical players but now with incoming fictional.

I play in "God" mode - that is full commissioner control and I spend a great deal of time tinkering to get things just right. Think Henry and the UBL

this is my third time redoing this exact setup (with the first around v4 and the last around v12)

seems to be centered around pitchers. One of the teams Milwaukee has cut all but one pitcher and is calling none up to replace them despite their being over 100 in their minor league system.

odd - anyone else experiencing this in new patch?

Something very odd is going on - just manually fixed the brewers by promoting and signing pitchers to give them 10 - next day they W&DFA all but 4 and are only carrying 20 players on roster

seems isolated largely wiht the Mariners and Brewers. No matter how many times I fix them - 2 days later same issue. Trying to fire thier GMs now and see if that helps

ok, none of that worked and now it seems as though it has spread through half the league. trying to turn off AI, manually set it all and then open up again and see if that reboot works.

note: I am not a novice around these settings, this is all stuff I have done hundreds of times. something is amiss here.

that didnt work either. worried this league is hosed. thankfully I only started it yesterday.

I am going to run a test on one of my other leagues (after backup) and see if this is just an issue with this one league or if it is more widespread.

definitely something off with the particular save. not happening in my other saves and not happening when I redid that one.

The only thing I did differently was created one account for my giants manager and one for the commish like I normally do. In last save I simply checked the play in commish mode box but have found I get a better game when I create the two separate managers.
