Creating Fictional Player
Whenever I create a player with zero experience to put on a AAA team, he comes eligible for Rule 5 and arbitration. Is there a way to create a fictional player without him being eligible? Is it possible to edit him to turn those off?

If you put him on your 40 man, he won't be Rule 5 eligible.

It's been a long time since I created a player, but there should be a way that does not include putting him on your 40-man. There's no tickbox for Rule 5 eligibility that you can either check or uncheck?

When you created the player, what was your setting for "Service Years"?
Check and see how many years service he has - that could well be why he's Rule 5 eligible. |

when i create a player, they get 3 years and need to be on the 40-man. so that is like a minor league free agent signing? anyway they are being classified in some particular way that causes this, and i'm pretty sure we don't have access to change this in the game - maybe if you can edit the database with a 3rd party program (or export, edit, import).
there is an "unavailable for draft list" checkbox - not sure if that is just for entry draft or not. commish mode on -> player editor. based on how the manual explains things, this should resolve your problem. Last edited by NoOne; 08-03-2015 at 09:34 PM. |

Make sure you set all these to your liking. In particular, pay attention to what you set the Service Time for as highlighted in red. Click the drop down arrow on the right for options.

Not sure what's causing your problem then. I have no problem creating players with 0 service time, at any age.
When you assign them to the team, are you putting them directly in the minors or on your ML squad, then demoting? |

I'm seeing an issue with the Rule 5 eligibility - regardless of age or what minor level you place them at, they are rule 5 eligible (with 0 service years).
I'm checking on it and will get back to you. |

It's like NoOne says - I set him up to be the rawest guy possible and he still is eligible. I mark him for my minor league - he never touches the majors, never has a day of service time. I guess unless someone comes back and says they can create a non-eligible player, I'll consider it a bug and maybe hijack an already-existing player to be my new guy.
