Michael Tarr vs Miguel Garcia: Who is the greatest?
..in my fictional MLB history.
With everything considered, these 2 are without a doubt the kings of the mound in my fictional MLB history. Both were almost unanimously selected as 1st ballot Hall of Famers. Looking at their career stars, who do you view as the greatest? And how close do you consider it? If you need any more info, just ask. Thanks!

I noticed your name in game is Nap Lajoie (Larry). Great HoF 2B.

I keep going back and fourth on this one. I want to say Tarr, but Garcia was at the top of his game for longer.

It's really hard to say, since the pitchers played in different eras. I would also say that these are likely not the same historical eras, since not many pitchers threw 300 innings in the expansion era. If the modifiers are historically accurate, then Garcia for sure (but then you have to wonder if he used PEDs)
Assuming league total modifiers were static, I'd give the nod to the other guy, with a consistently lower ERA, and consistently winning seasons.

Tarr was more dominant than Garcia, but played less years. I vote Tarr.

Garcia. Give me a guy who eats inning and wins anyday.

when you compare the stats that are apples to apples, Tarr is the better pitcher. however, era (if the option is on) and talent fluctuation can still influence this.
so, the only way to know for sure is to have your scouting 100% accurate and compare ratings over the course of their careers (numerous scouting reports)... that will tell you who is better regardless of luck. otherwise it's just an opinion, and opinions are like a**h**es - everyone has one, and they are rarely based on empirical evidence, but rather unsubstantiated feelings and flawed schemas.

One thing working against Tarr, was his bleached blonde goatee that he sported in the 60's. He was Hulk Hogan before Hulk Hogan. Definitely loses some points for that choice of facial hair.
