Why aren't my lineups being used?

I am simulating a season but am checking the box scores. I noticed that the lineups that were being used in the game were not the ones I set up, so I thought it might be because I was in GM only mode. So I changed the mode so that I am the Manager and the General Manager and my lineups are still not being used!

Anybody know what's going on? I really want to enforce the use of my lineups. Once the game has started, I don't care if the AI makes substitutions and whatnot, but I want the game to start with the lineup that I set up.

The only way to ensure that is to use 7-day lineups with no starting subs allowed. Any other setting allows the AI to use players as it pleases (or the manager if you use managers). I'm surprised that this isn't a bigger issue with players.

Is it possible that the AI is reacting to player fatigue? I have not had a lot of trouble with my preferred lineup not being played. Occasionally the AI will make a change, I always assumed that was based on a player being fatigued. Since I rarely monitor when my position players get tired, the game does it for me.

I don't think so. I check the players to see if they have the fatigue symbols. Plus my lineup would be the same, but the subs would take the place of the my originals. In other words, if I have my 3B batting 6th, the new 3B would still bat in the 6th spot, but that isn't happening.

Thanks! I'll do that from now on, but what a hassle. I wish there was a setting to just enforce my lineups, but let the AI make adjustments for fatigue and injuries.

if you go into comissioner mode, there is a checkbox in team home>settings that will prohibit the ai from making roster moves.

not sure if it works for this situation. one more thing to look into, though. maybe it prevents a change but allows fatigue subs? ... doubt it, but worth a try.

you can only see the option in commissioner mode, i believe.

No. When the AI makes a sub in the lineup, it will sometimes adjust the line-up order based on what it thinks is best.

Also, if you have subs set to start when the starter is tired, any percentage below "fully rested" will trigger the sub to start. So for example, your starter may be at 97% and not be tired enough to have a fatigue symbol next to his name in your roster screen, but that is enough for the AI to start your sub. So I would look again to see whether this is just the AI resting starters as normal.

If I may suggest... this is how I ended up with my simming style. I set the lineups for each game and then sim the whole thing. I realize that may be more work for folks who sim whole months and years regularly, but at least you will start the game as you desire.

If you DO use 7-day lineups, be very careful to turn them off again when you are done. I learned the hard way about that, ended up with like 5 guys overused and injured.

xgeoff, BBGiovanni is right: locked 7-day lineups are not good for long term sims. I use them for simming 3-5 days at a time and I make individual subs throughout the 6 days ahead of each game. For example I'll rest my catcher on Saturdays or Mondays and/or play my 4th OF 2-3 times mid week.
