Draft Picks All Getting Major League Contracts?

I am playing a fictional league with advanced draftee signing enabled, and no roster limit on any of my minor leagues. Every year after the draft I find that all of my draft picks have been given major league contracts and appear on my 40 man roster. I have to manually change their contracts to minor league and then waive and DFA them to get them off the 40 man roster, is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing which could fix this problem?

I did search the forum and I've seen this problem mentioned before but no solution that I could see. Thanks for any help, let me know if I've left out any relevant information.

i hate to ask an obvious question:
since you have the option enabled, you are working out contracts with the draftees before the deadline, right?

do you have any automation by the AI for your team?

a no and yes response might be the AI assigning contracts before the deadline passes.

when you work out contracts with draftees is it automatically a minor league contract or do you need some checkbox for that to be the case? (i don't use the advanced signing rules for draft slots and compensation)

i'd slowly review all game, league, team and manager settings. maybe try the "Prevent AI from any roster changes" for your team. it is only visible in commish mode on the team home -> team settings page.

since you found similar problems in the forums, you know it's a repeatable problem, but since it isn't prevalent it's likely just something in the setup or settings.

Thanks for your replies. Not the rule 5 draft, will take No one's advice and review all settings one by one.
