Just curious

I'm curious as to how many of you folks are still playing OOTP16? Let's have a roll call.

Late to the party, but I'm #3. Haven't even purchased 17 due to my love of 16, lack of intriguing new features in 17 and the vitriol over patch bugs in recent weeks/months.

I'm also in, I wasn't working for a bit, so I didn't get around to buying 17. I'm still having a blast with 16, so I'll probably wait around for 18 before buying another version.

I'm still with 16. I love the game, and will eventually get an newer version, at least my history with other franchises worked that way in the past, but as for right now, I'm happy with what I've got.

Still playing 16. I play fictional and wasn't sure how much 17 had to offer in that regard. If I'm wrong, someone enlighten me, please.

Dito ...Not too sure 17 offers the difference for me, I am pretty comfortable with where I am in 16 ..

Was playing 17 but was having issues with it so went back to 16 about a month ago. 16 works fine for me.

Just curious

Because of the issues with OOTP 17's latest patch, planning to go back to OOTP 16...

I have 17. The main reason I've returned to 16 is the spinning cursor brought on by 3D graphics. Now, if 17 came with lots of new can't live without features, I could force myself to get used to the spinning cursor and the choppy on screen presentation, but other than the asterisks announcing relief pitchers, nothing earth shattering was added. Historical minors is a total mess, but if they get it working, it could be just the thing that makes me ignore the choppiness. I know 3D is the future and everyone wants it. I just wish it could be turned off.....by this I mean so it's actually off. Right now, you don't see it when it's off, but the game still has to process the graphics and the result is ugly and time consuming.

This is so disappointing to read. I've seen you post it elsewhere and it's one of the big reasons I never purchased 17 and probably never will. I don't have one iota of interest in 3D, and to read that it affects the game behind the scenes even when you don't use it is very bothersome.

Does 17 have a demo? If so, you could give it a try and see if the spinning cursor and the choppy on screen display bothers you as well.

David, what kind of computer/processed do you have? I don't have the spinning cursor/choppiness you describe on my 2014 MacBook Pro. My main problem with 17 was with the amateur draft, historical play, not selecting players based on career stats (or whatevever it's called) so a player like Babe Ruth dropped to the end of the 1st round when I drafted him. That's when I went back to previous drafts and notice if a player had a good current year and nothing else, they would be selected ahead of a player that had a so so current year with excellent following years-like Babe Ruth. A couple others had mentioned this also in the 17 forum. That was a deal breaker for me but I did send in a ticket a couple weeks ago but I'm not hopeful and 16 is a good product. I think they tried to add to many things in 17 but that's just my opinion.

David, you know I think the world of you, but this is simply not true, as it relates being 3D-caused or driven. All of that seems more a system-specific problem and if you've noted all your system info somewhere, point me to it so we can have a look.

But rest assured, and Matt's said it elsewhere, 3D nor its graphics are running when you're NOT in a 3D game.

I would buy this if it didn't happen on both my desktop and my laptop. It's easy to see. You hit enter, the cursor turns into a spinning circle and the play evolves. The difference between 17 and 16 is night and day. To tell you the truth if it's not 3D related what causes it? What's different from 16 to 17 that would cause the cursor to spin? For the player info boxes to be choppy in movement etc? The only thing added to 17 was the more intense 3D

And threading capability. Have you experimented with setting threading to None or (2), which is the default for many. Your experience is not one very widespread. Personally, and I don't even recall what the issue was now, maybe slow-to-load particular screen or process, but the threading setting ultimately remedied that.

How do you mess with the threading capability?

Not in front of me, but it's under File/Preferences or Settings I think. Click around those tabs - Same area where 3D and Troubleshooting options are, IIRC. See what it's set at right now, when you find it.

I play short play by play instant, so I play fast. If I had extend play by play on and a slower speed than instant I would never even notice the spinning cursor. I would also have a headache and be bored to tears.
