20-0 Pitcher

I don't think I've ever seen this before... in a simulated league of mine, a pitcher on the Miami Sting has won *twenty* straight decisions heading into the All-Star break.

Now, granted, he does pitch for a team that leads in pretty much every offensive category and scores nearly 7 runs a game, but that's absurd.

He's also pitched 2 CG shutouts in a row.

He's making 12 million in 1946? That's got to be worth $150 million now. He could buy Miami. Not the team, the city.

Best I had was 15-0 once. Scotty then decided that that was good enough and went .500 from there.

I've had two pitchers on a similarly stacked team go undefeated for the entire season (not the same season, each one had a different season), but that was with me manually managing and ensuring he was never left in too long. Far more impressive to see from a pure simulated player.

The financials are more realistic to today, not to 1946. He actually makes well short of half the money that the highest paid pitcher in this league.

This guy didn't go undefeated but was the best ever no question in any league I've ever run. In a 3 year period including his 34-2 he went 82-10.

Ryan's strikeout is considered one of the most unbreakable in the MLB. This guy had 1500 strikeouts more...

Simming through the playoffs as we speak, watching every game. This team is so entertaining to watch I may make another thread about them.

Yeah, and the notion that the Bruins can win the Cup is out of date too... I haven't updated that in a while, I guess I will now.

That's an incredible record...and all with the same team for that entire career, too...

So, I've finished the regular season, as well as the Sting's playoff run. I won't say anything about how the Sting did in the playoffs, because I may share that later.

But, I will tell you how Baldwin did to finish the regular season.

Baldwin's undefeated run went to 21-0; he actually got a win in twenty consecutive starts from his second win to his 21st.

His regular season stats ended up being: 28-6, 3.07 ERA (151 ERA+), 239-65 K-BB, 1.20 WHIP, 7.5 WAR.

In the player rankings, he is ranked as the 7th best pitcher in the majors, and the 3rd best pitcher in the AL; he is second in the AL in WAR among starting pitchers.

The Sting signed him in late July to a five-year extension where he will be paid 17.8 million a year, which is very team-friendly considering 19 major league pitchers currently make more in this league.

Considering how much more he'd likely get on the free agent market, it seems Baldwin is committed to winning with what he thinks is a team with a bright future.
