Dynamic Evolution Commissioner Veto

A few users are quite vocal about their dislike of dynamic evolution and I have to say I agree with them that it should probably be disabled by default, but regardless of one's feelings on that I think it'd be great if in commissioner mode we got a popup alerting us to proposed dynamic evolution and asked us if we wanted to veto it. Yeah, you can disable the different options, but sometimes I want these things to be able to happen, but I don't always want them to happen the way the game makes them happen. For example, roster size or schedule length or expansion or relocation. Each of these things I want to be able to change, but occasionally I don't like how much they change so it'd be nice if the game asked us before it did them.

Oh, I do too, for sure. Perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned the off by default effort at all, but I thought I should mention it to point out that some people really don't like the DE feature while they might if they got a chance to veto it. I guess I left that out though.

EDIT: My guess is the reason why Markus leaves it enabled is too people might not ever know about it unless they actually experienced it first. But the problem with that is too many people too often get angry by the results of it and then hate it when it'd probably be a much more welcomed feature if we had more control over it.

Well, if the decisions made were more sensible/realistic, then you wouldn't need a veto. Right now, the changes seem to happen arbitrarily and randomly, rather than being driven by what's going on in the league and its recent history.

(Besides, having a veto sort of defeats the purpose of having dynamic evolution on, which is to have things happen without user prompting.)

Did you notice Markus did install your suggestion in regards to dynamic league evolution? The option to have it turned on or off is now part of the fictional league creation wizard. So glad to see this.

A simple reason exists for having it off by default. In previous versions importing an existing league to a new version turned it on along with storylines. That was frustrating. It seems that it doesn't happen in the v16/v17 transition so far. If that continues to be the case I have no beef. However having been burned before I check every time.

I'm intrigued that you feel ok with trying to force feed evolution by suggesting that it should be experienced first before one gets a chance to say no. Does that seem reasonable to you? I don't play in commissioner mode ever, so the suggestion in your OP won't be satisfactory for me. The only reasonable option in my opinion is to allow users the right to activate or not activate any and all features and limit if possible the automatic activation of any feature that can alter the game without warning during the transition from version to version or when creating a new league.

I'm sincerely trying to understand why you would want it any other way.

Had not noticed, have not played with creation wizard yet. That is so cool, that something I suggested (no one ever suggested that before?) made it into the game.
