This game really has some nice changes, I feel like a n00B!

I'm in challenge mode:

How do I delete MLB News? I can delete my manager news, but I don't see a way to delete MLB News like you could in previous versions of OOTP.

I'm not using legacy mode yet, but if I do NOT use that mode and hire a manager that allows me as the GM to set lineups and pitching staff, do those options become available or do you have to use legacy mode no matter what to be able to do those functions?

I don't recall ever being able to delete regular news feeds, only 'my' news.

You can still opt to have the control over lineups in the Challenge Mode. The checkbox is available in the same location.

I see that option..(Legacy) but if I select a manager that allows me to tinker lineups and pitching, will it allow me or will it stay greyed out?

I believe you are right.. maybe it's just the new layout I'm trying to get used too.

I can't be sure because I am both roles in my only league.
