It can be serious in some people. That seems high.

Scratched by a cat? Threw his alarm clock across the room? Yeah, sure. Ever heard of covering up really embarrassing causes of injuries?

Probably just doesn't want to admit he threw his cat across the room.

So, what exactly happened when this kid cracked his molar on a sesame seed roll (!) that put him out of action for 7 months?

The funny thing is, a lot of the weirder injuries aren't actually that creative of us, but are taken from real life examples that actually happened to athletes

Love the 'undisclosed injury' line. You just know this guy was trying to get weird with that cat! That scratch was obviously in a specific location to knock somebody out that long

Wade Boggs once missed time with bruised ribs, an injury he sustained putting on his cowboy boots. For that matter, Brent Mayne once threw out his back looking both ways before crossing the street. I'm serious. This is a thing that occurred.

Hockey fans might remember Dustin Penner injuring his back eating a stack of pancakes. He did add that they were really tasty pancakes.

Very true, there's a long list of freakish injuries that actually happened. As a Cubs fan, I can't forget Steve Trout falling off a stationary exercise bike or Sammy Sosa heading to the DL after spraining a ligament in his lower back caused by a few violent sneezes.

Has anyone had "undisclosed injury" for 10-12 months? Playing as the old Milwaukee Braves, Mickey Mantle suffered an 'undisclosed injury' the game before the World Series was to start, and the game never disclosed the injury.

Anyone else? I want to know WTF happened.

An infected tooth that required surgery and took longer to heal than anticipated?

But yeah, that seems excessive.

In the old days (as in the really old days - pre-1920s) when teams would travel south for spring training, a number of players would invariably come down with malaria. Now, in those days, before the link between malaria and mosquitoes was established or well understood, the south actually did have a problem with malaria, so some of those cases were no doubt genuine. But "malaria" was also a pretty good label to use when a player came down with a venereal disease - not something that was limited to the south, to be sure, but something that might happen when players were away from their wives and/or girlfriends for a couple of weeks in the early spring.

Babe Ruth's infamous "stomache ache," which cost him about a third of the 1925 season, was reported to the press as acute indigestion due to consuming "too many hot dogs and soda pops" during spring training. Rumors, however, suggested that the Babe had contracted a case of syphilis. Whatever the cause, the Yanks fell to seventh place that season.

We need an OOTP storyline for this. Like the "Chopping wood" one.

Joe Schmoe threw out his back, tore his ACL and suffered whiplash yesterday when he blinked too hard after the sun came up.
