Uniform Trouble--Need Help

I am having a issue where OOTP18 keeps changing some of the custom jerseys and hats that I originally selected to use and is automatically changing them to generic ones.

Has anyone had this issue occur personally or do you recall seeing anyone else complaining about it and how to get around it?

I'm creating a 8x8 NL-AL semi-historical league starting in 1900 using all real MLB teams.


99% of the time when I select to see what the away/road uniforms look like, within the Modify Team Colors and Uniforms page, the uniforms automatically change to generics and the game saves them that way.


Sometimes it is the hat, sometimes the jersey, and sometimes both.


Also sometimes it is the home jersey/hat and sometimes it is the Away jersey/hat and sometimes it is both.

I've never come across this problem myself, Chad, but just an idea - on each Team Color, Logos & Uniform page, is the "Lock team logos & textures" box checked off?

When i load my EBL vs MLB league every time there are at least 2-3 MLB teams that default back to generic. usually DET, SF, CIN & CWS but not always each time when I load it up is it all of those teams. It doesnt happen in any other ML leagues in that save noir does it happen in my ABF save.

take the files it keeps defaulting to and move them to a "new folder" within data for safe keeping.

since we likely won't have another patch, no worries. if you want to toss them back into proper directory, that's easy enough too (name backup directories the same, easy to copy/paste into data all at once, because you have the same directory structure).

if you don't want to do that, take a closer look at the associated files (eg, if det screws up, all teh "detroit" named files)... how are they named differently? years come into play, nomenclature of the files etc etc... probably somethign small causing the anomaly

also, there's an additional way to 'force' logos and such... has to do with making a directory with the ?city? name? check manual. you can make it use a particular set based on city, if i recall... no matter what else is available during game creation (unless hand-picked of course? not even sure on that).

Thanks guys for taking the time to respond.

The game is automatically substituting originally hand selected jerseys and hats and replacing them with generic uniforms that have no words or graphics on them.

I had already tried putting all of the stock uniform jerseys and hats into a new folder however, this hasn't stopped the problem.

I am now in the process of renaming the uniform and hat files to different names in hope that this will fix my problem.

I will keep you posted on the outcome.

the file names will defintiely have an impact... or should. check section in online manual pertaining to names and cities etc..

if you ever patch or re-install or re-install data directories (option in game) then you have to re-do whatever solution you find, if it entails changing or moving any of those files.

never fear deleting stock stuff from data directory folders (excluded: backups and saved games of course). all of that stuff is contained in archives in your ootp directory. also, any re-installation would fix it, or the in-game data directory restoration function etc... bottom line, it's never lost

This is an update for you guys.

I have manually played out 10 games so far in my newly created world and I have had zero issues with the game automatically changing uniforms and/or hats on me.

At this point in time, it appears that OOTP did not like the original names of the files which originally included the real team's name, and years used.

possibly historical year in stats and ai? it will use the jerseys that match a range of years. when you play historical it updates them as you go.
