Just purchased. Can't play for more than 10 mins

Just purchased the game. Can't seem to play for more than 10 minutes without the program completely crashing. No save file, no explanation, game just quits.
Am I missing a patch? Do patches automatically download and apply?

Running on mac os 10.12.6

Sorry that's happening. We should be able to get you sorted out.

On Steam, patches do automatically apply. If you're running the version you downloaded directly from us, probably not. In that case you can find the latest patch here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=282044

Typically speaking the game should never really crash, much less do so regularly. So I'd guess there's another program running or something going on with your system that's somehow interfering with the game and creating the crashes.

So the first question would be what programs you have running at the same time as OOTP? Also, what are your system's specs and are you using the Steam or standalone version?

To try to narrow down what might be causing problems, try the following: First make sure to create an exception or whitelist OOTP in your anti-virus and firewall programs. Then restart your computer. Then shut down everything non-essential that's running other than OOTP. Then start OOTP up and try playing for a while and see if it still crashes in the same place(s) and with the same frequency.

If not, then you'll basically just want to play the game without anything else running in the background, since one of those programs was likely causing issues with the game.

If it still crashes even after doing the above, then let me know and I'll come up with some additional troubleshooting tips for you.

if you just purchased the game, you've got the latest patches. no they don't auto load and apply unless you're on steam, but the developers build every patch into the newest, so you're good there.
