Choppy Gameplay
Hey all,
Just started new league and playing games is very choppy on Modern 3D mode - any suggestions on what I can do to "smooth" gameplay? Thanks! Malberts |

I've noticed this, only since the latest update though. Hopefully it will right itself soon enough.

Yes, I thought I just imagining it. Good to have confirmation.

Definitely more noticeable since the last two updates when playing games out. It looks like the ball goes past 1Bman when thrown from SS or 3B.

I have it on my laptop all the time. I generally only play out post-season games and sim the rest of the time. My solution is just to save, close OOTP, and re-load game. Wprks every time. Must clear a cache or something.

I always have choppiness now for the first batter. After that it settles down.

reduce crowd quality (game and vid card settings)
reduce graphics quality in general (game and vid card settings) ensure vsync (fps, 60 not 120+ as you're unlikely rendering at 120 and your tv is just a gimmick to cover up physical limitations of LCD tech, lol)... if it can't keep up with frame rate, turn on opengl triple buffering on your video card settings [sic]. this can specifically help when FPS is < refresh, i believe. if you can control FPS through video card settings, try to force it to do so with ootp. set it to 24-30fps. this will be full motion relative to what an eye can see. you could go lower, but at some point it'll be noticeable. this would stop choppiness in many situations, but may cause other visual effects like tearing -- less likely and often than the choppiness almost assuredly. dxtory is a free app that can lock fps... turn off all the other junk and just set the FPS for 3d apps in its settings. must be running while ootp is running in future, of course. do these things one at a time and with things that are less intrusive, first. if you have a 'nice' computer with high end hardware, then it's not likely a resource issue. you should update drivers and re-think any recent installations (like AV software, not normal apps and games) or changes you've made to the OS. |
