In the top of the fifth, Brown was thrown out at home trying to score from first on an Evers two-out double. In the top of the sixth, Sheckard put the Cubs on the board with a two-out RBI single. Slagle followed with an RBI double. Tinker was next and he hit a run-scoring single. Kling then tied the game with an RBI triple. The pitcher Brown gave the Cubs the lead with a run-scoring double as the Cubs put up a crooked number in the inning. After six: Chicago 5 Cincinnati 4. In the top of the seventh, the Cubs loaded the bases with one out. Pinch hitter Solly Hofman beat out the 5-4-3 to pick up an RBI. Tinker followed with a two-out single to knock in a run. In the top of the eighth, Charley Hall took the mound for the Reds. In the top of the ninth, Hofman picked up an RBI single. A walk loaded the bases with one out. Kling went down on strikes for the second out. Brown put the icing on the cake with a two-run single. The Cubs racked up 15 hits in the win. Chance then scored the tying run when Sheckard grounded into the 3-6 fielder's choice. Slagle was next and he put the Cubs in the lead with a two-out two-run double. Tinker followed with an RBI single to make it a five-run inning. In the top of the ninth, Steinfeldt added the icing to the cake with a two-out RBI single. The Cubs recorded 11 hits in the victory.
