Huge Pet Peeve
I cannot hold back any longer. Complained once in OOTP15 and held my tongue ever since, but not one day longer.
Your default MLB Player Draft is always December. The MLB Common Draft has been a JUNE draft ever since June 8, 1965. I thank you and Rick Monday would thank you if he played OOTP21. |

The default December draft is the rule 5 draft not the amateur draft which is correctly in June as well.

If you’re playing historical, default date is definitely set to December 15. I just switched it to June in a historical (1986) that I started yesterday. He’s right about that. That’s not the case in standard leagues, though.

Thank you for clarification of my post. I failed to say in Historical Replays, and failed to use those few words.. Standard Leagues have a correct June Draft.

Historical replays have the draft in June because by default, you select players that had their first real season the next year (so the December 1985 draft is players who made their MLB debut in 1986). It wouldn't make sense to have the draft in June 86, because then those players picked couldn't play for the first 3 months of the season.

The alternative option would be June '85, which I personally use even though it results in players debuting a year early.

I literally just learned, no more than 3 minutes ago, that Rick Monday was the very first player drafted in MLB. I just happened to be reading: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_...Baseball_draft - I had no idea he was the 1st pick.
