Please Fix the Friends List!

It's such a great feature, but I feel it is also the red-headed step child of additions to the game. I realize it's a low priority item, but I can't believe it would be tough to fix. It would be nice to see the teams distributed more evenly, instead of being ganged up in a couple of divisions, as so often happens. It would also be nice if it could be bigger. But, what really would be nice is if what is there worked properly. I've tried to add a friend several times today, and keep getting the same message:

Would be nice if Friends were placed within one league in either AL or NL in a league....that way they would face each other more as they do not even play the other league.

Only 10 friends? Is this due to the quarantine?

Maybe it was during the time where the system was super busy. We had this over the weekend again unfortunately, but the engineers of our service providers are working on optimizations.

Twas me, jumping to conclusions.

I'm pleased, but not surprised, that you would show personal concern for a problem reported by a small niche of your fan base. Class, as always, sir.

As it turned out, the problem was outdated verbiage on the error message. What actually happened was I had reached 30 on my Friends List, but the "10" that the error message showed threw me into a bit of a panic. Once I got back to the limit, everything was fine.

Since I seem to have caught your ear, my simple request for Friends List would be for the teams to be distributed evenly through the divisions in turn, that is one per division up to six, then two per division up to 12, then three per, etc. until the Friends List group is exhausted.

I play PT as part of Our League (OL), a small, but fairly dedicated group who use a simple set of rules, no live cards, and the honor system and compete against each other for Our League crowns, and battle against the rest of PT to uphold OL honor.

We have, perhaps, the liveliest, and, certainly, the most contributed to thread on Perfect Team. If you get a chance, read through a bit. I think you'll enjoy it. You're welcome to join.

Again, thanks for your sincere concern, and your wonderful game. I have to admit, I originally bought OOTP only to support the company as an FHM player (which gets better all the time), and did not play it until Perfect Team, which I didn't really embrace until Our League formed.

I have begun to run some long tern historical sims (in challenge mode, of course) and have a Braves sim running into it's third decade which has revealed your game to be an achievement worthy of the great praise it gets. I believe over the weeks I have been award 8 or 9 card packs, a nice little perk for something I'm doing for fun.

My, I do run on. Call it old man privilege, but one final thing. As a person in his late 60's, who had completely lost interest in baseball, thanks for providing a memory filled diversion in the current uncertain times, and during normal times as well.

I would place you, your game, and the company you seem to have formed around it on an equal footing with Hal Richmond, if an old Strat-O-Matic player might be able to drop a name here. Believe me, that is the highest praise I feel I can offer, and it is well deserved.

While we've got your attention on the friends list...

Would it be possible to adjust the seeding algorithm to not place multiple friends-groups in the same league?

There are a couple active groups (BFF and OL) who would generally prefer to be kept separate from each other, but our leagues keep getting co-mingled.

Nothing at all aginst OL folks, it's just the point of the friends list is to play with teams all following the same rules. So jumbling the friends groups together kind of defeats the purpose.

For myself (my teams are in OL), I like to see the BFFs mingled with the OL, as that means we are all FTP teams, different rules, but no whales going 120-42 as they smash through.

If either league would end up with 30 teams at a single level and be able to, in effect, have a private league, that would a different situation.

Probably because you're at 30 names. Try eliminating a name that is two levels away from you, and then you should be fine. This is a good time to mention that, as we get more than 30 friends, it will be up to each manager to make sure that the teams one and closest to them are on their list.

This is why I love this game. The CEO is responding to bugs. Legit.
