Gretzky playing as a Shadow

I don't know how much the player roles really affect the game, as Gretzky is still leading the league in all scoring categories in 1983. But the AI is playing him in a shadowing role. It's funny because Gretzky has said that the shadow is the "dumbest thing in hockey". And of course he'd be better as almost anything else, including playmaker and his namesake role.

I've noticed the AI sometimes makes odd choices like this, not sure how the logic is setup. Perhaps because he's so good and rated at 20 in multiple roles. Maybe the game could allow his rating for some of the more suitable roles to rise above 20.
