Challenge Mode and being logged in

I enjoy that Challenge Mode keeps track of your achievements and records online. However, I am wondering if you have to be logged in when you achieve an achievement for it to count? I am asking, because I played OOTP 20 for a long time, but at some point I got logged out and I didn't notice for awhile. I logged in, and I thought it would know to upload any achievements or scores since the last time I logged in, but it appears it didn't. So is this true? And if so, has it been fixed in OOTP21? It seems a bit unfair to lose out just because you weren't logged in or online at the moment you scored the achievement.
