What do people think this check box does:
recalc player ratings based on real stats after each year

Which year is being referred to?
The next UNPLAYED real life stats?
The season that was just simulated?

How do players ratings change if you do not check this box??

If Player Developement check box is OFF, does potential mean anything?

Anyone feel like there are alot of screens to jump back and forth from to set up league?
Anyone think there should be more common meta drop down choices to simplify process?

Upcoming season, or current season if season in progress.
If not checked, then taken change randomness affects ratings.
Yes potential still means something, an indication of what the ratings will be in future.
Yes there is a fair amount of jumping around setting up leagues but that is because of all the options.

i really don't understand how future unplayed seasons are used in recalc.
That should only be on option for historical replay to get closest results possible.

If you don't like future season then set it to current season only.

related topic: After 1 season is over, is there a way to get the real rookies for the coming season? I just finished 1966, and I noticed no Johnny Bench, etc.

Have you advanced the schedule to the preseason?

Rookies will be imported on the first day of the preseason, and they are either assigned to their real life historical teams or imported into the first-year player draft pool.

Here is the OOTP 21 manual section that covers this topic. If you created your league properly and are using the appropriate settings, historical rookies will be automatically imported at the appropriate time.
